With the refs having more and more impact on a result it got me wondering.Fans have always blamed the refs but nearly everyone believes they square up the count, they ref players differently, and some teams also.
More and more the refs are the talking point and there is a reason, and it is the refs fault
The NRL with its constant rule charges and the refs lapsing in and out of the rules, the tolerance of wrestling, chicken wings and techniques to slow down the ruck have created a game where its feasible a penalty could be blown nearly every ruck. The problem arises when it then appears the refs are selective in awarding the penalties.
Its hard to watch when something you team gets penalised for happens in varying degrees many many times in the same game but goes un punished.
The NRL has created this over many years of listening to coaches and being media reactive but ignoring the customer base, which is sad. There lack of leadership and allowing the refs to run there own boat has had a massive impact on what the Nrl is trying to achieve with its product
Just a hint they could start by stopping players walking off the mark to nulify the markers almost every play the ball
they need to get back to the basics, read the rule book for what it is, and let them play footy. To ignore your customer is not good business and after all thats why they hired a business man to run the game
