How can a Government knock down a perfectly good stadium without having a firm contract with a builder to construct a new one?
Gladys, this is your biggest blunder so far. Lucky for you there is still three years until the next election.
Suck it up Easts!

She will probably get a job working for Lendlease who will somehow still get paid out a massive chunk

$100m blowout for stadium rebuild
A controversial demolition and rebuild of the Sydney Football Stadium has blown out by almost $100 million.
The Berejiklian Government has today revealed it awarded a $735 million contract to John Holland to finish the stadium in time for 2022 NRL Grand Final.
It takes the total estimated cost of the project to $828 million.

The cost of the new Sydney Football Stadium – currently just a massive hole in the ground – will be at least $99 million higher than originally planned, the NSW Government has admitted.

“While the estimated total cost for this build is higher than what we originally anticipated, it is much better value than what we would have achieved had we not gone back to the market,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said in a statement. “It is important to deliver the world-class stadium we promised to attract the best events to our state.”

NSW Labor has blasted the Government’s handling of the project, with Opposition Leader Jodi McKay accusing the Premier of “lying” about a “signature election commitment”.
“She not only lied that she had a construction contract sorted when she didn’t, she also broke a promise the stadium would be on time and on budget,” Ms McKay wrote on Twitter this morning.

So what happened to Lendlease? They can't just 'pull out' and cause a $100 million loss which the state then cheerfully bears, surely?

State just paid an extra 1.5 billion for that useless light rail and we are still paying for the Eastern Distributor plus the Airport Train

Lend Lease was paid $30-M to demolish the SFS which, in itself, was lunacy.
They then provided a tender for the re-build which was higher than the Government's estimate. When the Government baulked Lend Lease pulled out. Now John Holland Constructions has provided a quote that is almost $100-million higher than the government's estimate.
This was not Lend Leases' fault. It was/is a bloody stupid decision by the NSW Liberal Party, to go along with its knee-jerk banning of greyhounds and more recently its $1-Billion relocation of the Powerhouse Museum to Doesn'tmatta.
And to think, this party is supposed to be the sensible one.

What a **** up, and to think I only thought things got ****ed up in QLD with Anastasia Pluck a Duck.

It’s everywhere these days , Victoria , Queensland , South Australia and now NSW ( probably WA and Tassie too).
