The real issue we have to fix

Not just DCE, you've got Thommo and Marty to throw in there as senior players too. We are a pretty young side in terms of NRL experience so you can see why it can happen. Look at the Broncos - similar issue with lack of experienced leaders to put a lid on things when the going gets tough.
Can't help noticing that the same crew - well, pretty much the same - has been responsible for some tremendous, real backs-to-the-wall courageous efforts such as against the Raiders and Eels, and in finals last year, and some big losses too.
Maybe they heard Greenberg saying consistency is overrated.

You do make a good point there but history will also prove a talented young team without a host of experience players but an experienced great coach can still be resilient enough to win a premiership
Examples
1977 Dragons Baths babies
2005 Tigers Sheens Teens
So, about once or twice every 50 years or so!

The game is about fundamentals and right now other teams are doing them much better than we do. The game is all about building pressure by gaining good field position and then either scoring or getting repeat sets.

Our attack at the moment is very predictable especially whe DCE does not have a creative half to work with. teams that play us know that if you shut down DCE then Manly are not much of a threat.

We get killed by the speed of the ruck week in week out and our line speed in the last month is way worse than it was in the first few games back.

The team is crying out for fresh blood, we have injuries now so there is NO excuse not to blood some of the idle talent that is out in the cold at the moment.
Yes that’s the way it has been.

The band-aid solutions for the attack since Turbo and Walker went down has not fixed the wound. You loose two of your creative players and Garrick/ Elliot at the fullback to be the solution. I did not understand why Albert missed out on the jumper after Turbos injury.

The defensive line lacks energy and enthusiasm.

Hopefully Guacamole gets a fun this week along with Schuster at left centre.

Agree, there has been some good wins in there along the way. But if memory serves me correctly we may have got the rub of the green a little in both those games, or at least been on an even footing. Unless I misunderstood, what the OP was suggesting was that when things aren't going our way we might struggle to overcome the negativity that creates. Or to look at it another way, we might find it hard to wrest momentum back once we've lost it, which I think is a fair comment.

Time for Des to use a bit of that Hasler magic. If Albert Hoppa is unavailable, take a risk with one of the fast young players there. Maybe Funa. Say farewell to Taufua and bring in Harper. Schuster to pair with Suli at centre and Cust at five eighth. Get some attacking grunt into the backline.

I don't recall us getting the rub of the green, although I confess I do watch our matches out of one eye!
When the 6 again rule first came in there were a bunch of blow-out games where one side got a run of early 6 again calls and the other never recovered. I think that syndrome still exists, not suggesting it's the reason for our capitulations but it may well be a factor. We had a number of those against us in the first half vs Pennies.

Broncos we were dead lucky. Roosters win was a miracle with 50/50s and Tommy’s defence.. Robbed v Parra , dodgy non penalty v knights but thst was a kick for a draw from a dodgy goalkicker. Most other games we were probably on the wrong side of the 50/50s.
To be honest 6 and 6 is about right. We have looked slow and clunky all year and won on guts mainly.

Two issues that are obvious as a result of our lack of speed

1. We play up and in with a slow roster. Virtually impossible to win if other side playing expansive footy well.
2. Slow teams almost have to test the refs patience in the ruck or teams just match up field under the new rules.Refs are more inclined to blow six again as subconsciously they think it’s not as damaging as a penalty with a kick for touch.

Agree totally on up and in defence imo they need to use slide defence alot more and man on man this rushing out from jorge, garrick and dce is a all or nothing play and too high risk.
