The problem

We aren't ever winning a premiership under Penn.
I don't see him selling unless someone offers stupid money.
He seems happy to boast about owning a footy team knowing the running costs are covered by the NRL.
Under the Penn model of running a football team we are more chance of winning wooden spoons than premierships.

How different would this club be if Uncle Nick was a Manly fan.
Should have seen him bolted out of the stadium tonight. I just manage to slap him in the back, but Messup shook our hand.

Ive been saying this for months in the sack Seibold thread but no one has been listening.

Nothing will change , ever , whilst they are owners.

You can sack 20 coaches if you like , and 50 -60 CEO’s but whilst ever it’s just run on the NRL grants and nothing more , what you see is what you’ll get.

Yep - it is the problem

But hey others well tell you its Seibold or Waddell or whoever.

But it all starts with the owner.
Absolutely we need new owners…that’s not debatable.

But if you think Seibold, Waddell and others are good enough for a team with title aspirations then you’re watching the wrong game.

The club needs a broom from too top to bottom.

Ok,if you’ve been saying it for months, tell us what the Penn’s are not spending on that Manly are missing out on,that teams like Canberra and Cronulla are benefiting from?

Did i say they were good enough ?

Or did I say the real issue was Penn, and it all flows down from him?

We view this as a simple football problem.

It’s an economics problem.

We have owners who put in the bare minimum. Have pulled their accounts and have read them. Bare bloody minimum.

As I said in another thread, if you think you can win a comp these days grifting along - unless you have the next 2010 panthers - and we don’t - you won’t win.

We are buggered.

So what’s the solution? We needs the penns to sell. How so I hear you ask? Like English soccer wear a scarf of complaint. Be against the owners.

If we don’t - nothing will change - I promise you.

I hate what the Penn family have done to our club and I do put the blame for the decade of failure squarely at their feet and I would love nothing more than to see the back of them. However, I don't think that the failure is just the money, sure, I agree it is part of the problem but if it was just money then the Broncos would win every year. Also, look at the Sharks, they are a small market, suburban club like us and they manage to be competitive every year. Something about the culture of our club must stink, really stink.

Sure Penn needs to sell. But who's buying ??

Owning a RL team isn't a profitable business, but Mr Fluffy has an deluded view of what his stake is worth.

Wish it was as simple as changing the owners but think that it is glaringly obvious again that you cannot have the best part of 3 . 5 mil of the cap going to D C E , Turbo , Jake and Alioia where value for money , form issues game availability and self petulance has cruelled the team 's prospects no end to whatever degree over recent years
Then the wasted 200 k per season still for the Shu and the availability and form issues previously with him on 800 K .
Throw in Haumole and Paseka "s long absences this year and premiership outcomes is just not going to happen
Lets see what eventuates when hopefully Fogarty , Walsh , Large and the totally vital retention of Koula can really improve prospects and a couple of quality forwards can come into the mix or system

Compounding the fact that when a player gets injured, we sign players that over 30+ and are injury prone as well to cover...instead of promoting youngsters.

All I’m saying is they are not spending anything other than the budget allowed , it’s clearly obvious the others do.

The whole football department is the start.

Navale is certainly surprising with his limited i st grade appearances this season
Can only assume a practical reason , probably a bit early for the likes of Hart
Not too sure what other youngsters could have been promoted this season at least
Definitely would like to see Walsh given a taste of i st grade before season "s end but will just have to see i guess

I might be wrong. I am not.

Had a good chat to Penn tonight in Canberra - I do not get the impression he’s too bothered with the results, tonight included.
Since you are probably one of likely not many who has actually spoken to him….myself included. Do you think he is as bad as how he is portrayed on this site?
