The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

Such a disappointment if Bennett cant get this kid motivated. Got immense skills that have been seriously wasted. If he fails, he's one I got quite wrong about. Whatever the cause, its a shame the mental attitude does not match up with the obvious potential. I'm still hopeful, but if a coach of Bennetts class cant get this kid motivated, no one will.

Sad really , but you are right , if Wayne can’t fix him he’s unfixable

Hopefully the news that I assume was leaked from within the Vermin to the media was done with hope that it may help him.

Otherwise it appears that they are looking to part ways with him.

It highlights that Manly and people from the club tried many different approaches to get him into a good space but couldn’t due to his personal challenges.

I wish Schuster all the best and hope his mental health improves, and he can show us what he's got on the football field.

On the other hand, I'm delighted that Manly cut bait with him and aren't still paying him 800k a year to eat KFC.

But I think we are still paying him this year , not much but still something

An article like that pretty much says he's unfixable. Needs to move away from football and find himself and what he wants to do. What a waste of pure football talent.

I have to say that Bennett hardly gave it much of a go with Josh, Manly put in a bigger effort. Bennett gave up after a few weeks, at least we tried for an extended period of time

Is it really his mental health, or he just lacks the guts and gusto to have a real go.

While everyone is talking about his mental health, which I get, the other and more simple reason could be that he's just too lazy.

He has the talent to be one of the games' greats. But does he have the want to do it??

In all of this, has anyone asked Shoe what he actually wants??

Many in this thread have criticised the club, Des, Seibold, and others for managing him incorrectly. But in hindsight we perhaps gave him more opportunities than he would have been given elsewhere to earn his place in the position he wanted (at the expense of other players). Unfortunately, it hasn't worked out for either Josh or the club/s.

I'm not sure about all of the reasons, but I think it should be clear that clubs see these players much more than the average punter does... and they know much more about what to look for in the qualities of consistent first grade players.

Personally i feel like the Tittmus incident was the complete undoing for Schuster, losing your best mate and then walking into the same spot he died each day, and then the inquest interviews can’t have put him in a good spot either

Was hopeful a change of scenery might get him back into it, but obviously the issues run fairly deep, and completely understandable
