As I walked out this morning ( slightly hungover and still thinking about 32-0) I stopped to lean on a railing and look over the ocean towards Fraser Island.
As I was leaning there a Sea Eagle landed on the railing not four feet from me. We regarded each other in companionable silence, the Mighty Bird and the Noble Drunk.
A telepathic conversation of sorts took place:

Noble Drunk: Are you an omen sent from above to inform me that this is the Year of the Eagle and we shall go through the season without the foul taste of defeat.
Mighty Bird; No ND I was just wondering what would happen if I latched onto your beak with mine.
ND: Farewell O King of Birds!
MB:Farewell O Prince of Pisspots!

The first part is true, the second part less so. It could still be an omen

Nothing like the concord of nature and man.

I have a miniature white rabbit visit every afternoon, must have been dumped at the nearby reserve after Xmas.

So 2013 is lucky already with my 4 x rabbit foot moving in 🙂
