The Luke Brooks Book Thread.

He was quiet today. I’d forgive him for preserving himself next week, given how much scrutiny he has received with his record streak of most games without playing in a final. Could you imagine the ridicule he would have got if he injured himself this week and missed the finals?!

No excuses next week.

Brooks may have been preserving himself for next week, but I've said all year his best games have only been when Turbo's been on the field.
Agree with you Ranga, no excuses next week.

Some data on where Brooks was against the other 5/8 last season.

Dylan Brown is so ridiculously overpaid... We're paying 250k less for a better and more complete player. That's before even factoring in that stupid 1.2 mil he's asking for.

Thought Brooks was quiet for the first half of last year, and only really got into his groove, same with Turbo, in that Knights game. I think he's in for a better second season here for sure.

Brooks looks pretty good in those stats overall .Also Dylan Brown is on much more than 850k so Brooks is great value
We just a need a front rower if substance
Go Manly

Can’t be unhappy with his first season with us, no reason why things won’t improve this season,
Things have to improve
We need to improve if we are going to move forward from last season and move up to the top four
We also have a favorable draw which would greatly assist our goal

He's gone from a team where he was expected to be the "wunderkinder" ... with 12 blokes standing around waiting for him to create something .... to a team where he is simply expected to be a very good part of a very good backline.

He is adjusting to his new role well ... it is a whole different mindset and mission statement ... and not one that happens overnight ... but as his confidence, and his confidence in his team mates grows ... his natural flare will come back in spades ...

I think his best is yet to come ..

I think he was easily the buy of the season for us and agree that he has another gear there. I thought he was coming into his own towards the end of last season so will be interesting to see if he icks up where he left off. Amazing durability with 25 games in his 1st year with us. Gotta love that just in itself. Love to see how he would go with Haumole and Saaby on his outside!!!

I think he has fitted in really well. Watching him score that try in Vegas and seeing how excited the team was when he did (I almost jumped the fence to jump on him myself @:D) you could tell then he was going to be good for the team. As @Ron E. Gibbs noted, I was worried about his defence but watching him at Brookie, he never took a backward step and pulled off a lot of great tackles. And @Woodsie , the pass that he produced for DCE in that semi against the Bulldogs, demonstrated to me that his confidence had grown over the year. And as you say, I'm looking forward to seeing more of that flair from him this year.

* I actually hate seeing players jump on try scorers. One day someone is going to get seriously hurt by their own players.

Brooks burst out wearing a Manly jumper for the first time in Vegas, with some quality performances that quickly established him in the team. With a string of dazzling plays and strategic brilliance, he had fans and pundits praises.

However, as the season progressed, I thought he encountered a challenging phase where his form dipped, possibly due to having a developing backrower inside him along with a few other options in the backrow. The mid-season slump saw him struggle to maintain his early season form. Round 16 against the Vermin was his worst performance.

Despite this, he demonstrated resilience and determination, gradually regaining his form. As the season neared its conclusion, he once again became instrumental in the team's resurgence, proving his mettle with performances that reminded every one of his exceptional skill and tenacity.

Last season's journey highlighted not only his talent but also his ability to overcome adversity and reclaim his status as a key playmaker.
