Announcement The Long Offseason ahead

There’s probably nothing worse than a long off season on here , it’s the okay for a few months but by January everyone’s eating the paint off the walls.

I understand why many say sayonara for 6 months.

Yes I doubt @Dan would take any extra money by charging more but perhaps if you found out the cost of a new server @bob dylan it would be easy for you to set up a Go Fund Me and promote it yourself ( on here of course ).

It can’t hurt.

Agreed Mark, as a technical simpleton I can't offer anything constructive but have no qualms tipping in some coin to help us all out.

Well that wasn't how I hoped it would finish particularly after making a bet with my stepkids that I would wear a Roosters "something" one day this week including in meetings if Manly lost, and so now I am trying to convince them that a rooster pin/badge counts, or socks.

But hey we went alright. A few things going differently for us in the season and things might have gone our way.

Lehi Hopoate was a huge find and I think next year needs to be DCE's final stand for the cup before starting to look at the next round of halves. We need to also have a look at our backrow and alignment across the forwards, as backrow was this year our weak point. Make a few little tweaks and I think we will improve next season.

Its a long offseason and for me the Footy is done. I have no interest in watching a Panthers v Storm Grand final > too boring.

So for now, I really don't know.

What it means for the site, is that we are lagging behind a few versions of the engine that runs the site, so the offseason is going to see us do 2 things

1 - evaluate our server (we will probably look at our own barebones server, more expensive, but we are the sort of size now, where we are a noisy neighbour on VDS and I will just try and get the accounting right)
2 - Upgrade our tech stack and make sure everything works, migrate that to production

The second will spawn a bunch of subtasks and I think what we will see is a new design or theme as well since this one was build explicitly for an older version.

Its going to take a while and be quite a time expense for me so Ill get to it ASAP. If anyone wants to help with any of that you are more than welcome to throw your hat in the ring, especially any budding designers out there.

Also if anyone has any actual Temple and Webster codes, I am re-doing my office and need to save a buck 🙂

I too can't offer any technical help, but certainly would donate to a go fund me or similar.

Thanks Dan.
Love the site and I have looked on here every day since early 2002 when it was one eyed eagle.

Yeah Dce has next year left and maybe the year after potentially off the bench. Just my opinion. Hard to play in the nrl at age 37.

It’s a real shame that he, Jake and Tom have not been able to play in a grand final.

2019 we were closer than this year with Tom injured as well.

2021 we got smashed by souths in the grand final qualifier.

Yeah good season however I’m not sure about Mr Penn’s view when he sacked Des that we are in a premiership window. We have come 12th and 7th under Siebold.

I understand (and this is per The Mole / Channel 9) that Manly is not in the player market this year, although I guess surprises may occur.

One of my concerns is that we may find with generous good luck and a handful of great performances that we actually are in a premiership window.....but then it turns out to be a sqEels - style window that slams on our dicks in a Grand Final humiliation!

First good news of the off season is that it appears we got through mad Monday unscathed
I just had a good catch up with one of the Eagles players that lives in my unit block, they actually have their mad Monday tommorow the dress up theme sounds like a good time. Their pre season training starts back on 29th November, overall their morale seems high if it’s any constellation they have had a good season and I said well deserved

He was seeing stars !?

If it's any consolation, I have considerable consternation with consultants who think they are constellations........

Do you happen to live in the complex on Boondah road/Macpherson street?

Last season [ 23 ] seemed on the shorter side and pass fairly quickly well just on my impressions .
Maybe not making the finals and not much positivity in the 2 nf half or so of the season contributed to that .
This season, far from it and just again from my perspective ,
Maybe making the finals again and a few more positive trends made a difference .
The L A opening game seems such a long time ago now .
Anyway , certainly prefer having the notion or feeling of a longer type season and with some reasonable level of positivity and encouragement

Didn’t know Paseka lives here too, yeah I know tof we’ll have many chats in the sauna haha, Moses Suli used to live here too his mail still comes 😂
You would have every reason to be very pleased with the Dogs season .
Probably would have to be one of the most improved sides for some time now and in comparison on how they have been going in recent seasons .
Sure that it beats being in the also run category and near the bottom of the table

Very proud mate, after years of failure and being at the bottom compared to being a top side for left it’s refreshing and promising to see such a new roster bonding together that want to play footy. I have become a huge fan of Cameron Ciraldo and how he projects,no excuses etc. thanks for the kind words brother you have a lot to be proud of with the Eagles too

You still here!
(starting to sprout little wings, I suspect.)
