People are upset, and sure he’s played well recently but he is still prone to injury and is at the tail end of his career. Need to look to the future. Good luck Foz.
Now is the time to start planning ahead in the halves. If Manly had matched Titans offer, they lose their experienced halves in successive years. This way it gives Schuster,if he’s the appointed 5/8,a few years under DCE.

Shuster will have to learn to play straighter, if he wants to fill Foz's shoes. Apparently he does want. Ok, he doesn't have to play direct all the time but he does do a lot of shuffling. A man of his size should just 'go forward'.

A lot of that is due to playing backrow. He will be just as good at straightening the attack when he gets earlier ball at 5/8.

I wonder how long it will take for Hasler to shift Schuster from five eigth back to the back row if the attack doesn't gel and DCE may be struggling. 1 year or less? I will add, I want Schuster to succeed.

Does anyone think that if we are out of finals contention later n the year that Foran should be dropped to the bench and use Josh S as 5/8 to see how he goes ???

My concern with Foran leaving is the calmer, organised aspect.
DCE is no organiser, prior to Fozs return, all these posters now saying Foz leaving is the best thing for the club would have been the same posters lamenting not having a decent 5/8 for DCE yo fully reach his talents. We went through an horrendous period with 5/8s
There's one game from last year that gets referred to here all the time in which Schu starred playing at 5/8.
DCE was halfback that day and the combo seemed to work fine.

Schuster will have no problem at 6. The only issue may be time spent injured on sidelines

Exactly, with Reynolds Cody is shown up.

Now Shu is a star in the making no doubt, but a green Shu with off the cuff plays and headless chook version of DCE could well be a disaster halve pairing.
So you’d be happy if we let Schuster leave for more opportunity?

Been away for the weekend and just read this news. Would have loved to keep Foz for another year, but seems it's not to be. I don't understand the retention committee that extends DCE for another 2 years a season before his current deal expires, yet we are letting Foz walk.

Unfortunately we won't be sending Foz off with another premiership, nor we will be winning one in his absence next year.

He does, mostly he steps in off his left foot back to the middle, engaging the middles of the opposition.

Not at all, but as @Chip and Chase said,we found a way to extend DCE contract, but couldn't with Foz.
No doubt Shu is the future we don't let him go, but he has to get on the field first. Foz staying could have been as 14 while Shu showed his wears, what's the harm in having a calm cool older head around as a security blanket while we bring these youngsters through.
I love DCE but he isn't a calm influencer, as much as Foz is.

Regardless of Schuster, Foran staying for 2 more years is effectively just kicking the can down the road. We were eventually going to have to execute a transition plan for the #6 jumper. I would prefer to do it while DCE is still playing so we can transition #7 with an established #6.

I agree mate….I’d love Foran playing 14 but then what happens to Croker. It’s a no win situation. DCE & Foran are not spring chickens anymore so can we afford to keep both? I don’t know I wish Foran could stay but who goes in order to keep him?

Agree to an extent but surely with a few contracts already leaving this year and a good crop of juniors coming through with what looks like no intent to sign any major signings as we haven't in years we would have some spare$ available if the desire was there without having to let anyone we want to keep go.
If Kapow goes, and not saying I want him gone but if as suggested he is, where is his reported $800k going, Did DCE signed a reduced contract too ?

I hope I am wrong, I just have the same gut feel about letting Foz go as I did when Api was let go.

Could the absence of a CEO (rather than the current fill-in) be one reason why he left?* I believe DCE’s contract extension was resolved before Humphreys left.

*We will probably never know.
