The key is Brett Stewart

This is simply not true. Do not let your argument cloud the truth. Snake has his best year in 2015 since the glory days of 2011. He scored 16 tries and many experts were calling him the form fullback of the competition. That was the year Glenn was at Souths.
Wasn't it 2015 when Snake also did very well in our own Silvertails MVP competition ?
Honestly, the short memories exhibited by the bulk of posters on this site is appalling. You MUST be a bunch of kids who cannot remember back past the current decade.
We only ponder over Brett S BECAUSE HE WAS SO GOOD and right up there with the best this club has ever fielded in its 1st grade RL teams. I speak as a 50 year Manly supporter.

Where would one find the 2016 Silvertails overall standings?
And who won?

Yep, he came in second with 21 points behind Jake who took out the 2015 MVP with 27.5 points:

Well I am no kid and a 30 year aupporter but believe Stewart's goose is cooked.

I have the utmost repaect for his past deeds and performances for Manly. But the stuff handed out last season and the back half of 2015 was not injury related and I won't be convinced otherwise.

I'd suggest that just as you say we are all short sighted and fail to remember history, maybe that same point should be made to Stewart instead of him throwing his toys out of the cot

Let the hate storm rain down on me.

Amy word on the possible match fixing allegations?

He is not worth 700k - that's the bottom line - of course he will stay for that coin / I don't blame him . I know if my market value was 250 at best I'd be lacing up the boots . The stewards are looking at his past few runs and I believe that if he was ridden by a jockey like his mate nikolic there'd have to be an investigation

Let's hope I am proven wrong but snake will only be here for his last pay check . His form since his brother quite rightly was shown the door has been ****e . He looked dis interested last year and now take away his speed and what is left ? It's 5 long years since 2011 but I will wait and see which Brett turns up come march
Mate the year glenn left he got 16 trys & set up plenty .. This year he was very poor but i recon he was injured...

I don't buy that, Snake's been playing on one leg for at least 5 or 6 years. He was still a gun back then, but it's just not possible anymore. Besides, Manly looked better with Tom @ FB. The 'Manly winning % without Brett Stewart' thing of the past decade, is dead & buried.

Don't read too much into the fact Brett Stewart hasn’t been sighted at Manly's pre-season training sessions.
The Snake, as a senior player, is always given a bit more time off than the younger members of the squad and is not due back until later in the month.

He has been spending his time looking after his new restaurant in Melbourne and no doubt contemplating his next move.

The odds of Stewart playing for Manly again are slim, leaving the Sea Eagles to cough up a tidy sum to get him off their books.

Sad but it's a business these days.

With Tommy it's unlikely he'll play with us.

Therefore even if we have to pay $500,000 of his salary to play at the Knights then we have to.

Personally I would rather see Snake retire than play for another NRL club.

I know we said the same about Gift, Choc and Foz.....but somehow with what Snake achieved here with his record try scoring....seeing him in another NRL clubs jumper just wouldn't be right.

I still don't think he will play next season and I think its part of the reason why we have Kevin Locke training for a contract.

The best outcome is Brett having one last quality season which allows Tom to fill in at centre for the year.

But f we are forced to pay him out entirely then we may as well make use of his knowledge and keep him at the club to pass on some of his wisdom to Tom T.

He's entitled to his money but the club are also entitled to get as much value for their money as well.

Equally the club recruiting Locke and Alphabet both fullback cover could suggest Snake is playing on and his fitness is unknown. Tom does move to the centres for a season hence the need for fullback cover.

I'm not sure Snake playing or not playing is our biggest concern. We were at our best last year when Turbo was in the centres, I'm fine with that.

Pretty happy with our current playing roster actually. And I still expect one more signing yet.

It's the present ability of either the Puppet coach or the Puppet Master to bring about success in 2017 which may be our failing.

Baz may have that ability to coach a top 4 team in the future, Bozo certainly did have it in the past. But in 2017 I'm just not sure either are at that place in their coaching careers? It's a good playing squad.

SHOOSH

WHICH former State of Origin star has not been sighted since his NRL club resumed training two weeks ago? The chances of him playing next year appear highly unlikely.

This may be Brett Stewart, alternatively I sincerely hope it is Myles. Has Myles been seen at training anyone?
Someone mentioned to me this morning that Stewart had not been sighted, this was from one of our players.
