The Jurker.......

Apparently we're after Jack Bird plus mention that James Graham wants to leave Belmore & join Manly!!!!
I've always loved Graham's passion..such a competitor and a tireless worker. Also rarely seems to get injured so u get great value from him and no state of origin commitments either. Age hasn't wearied him but he'd cost big $$$ - if the issue with him and Des comes to a head the Dogs might pitch in some money to offload him. Imagine Graham and Myles in the same team - 2 infamous headbutters lol no one would wanna get tackled by those two. I'd love to see James in the maroon and white - wholehearted 100% goer would add another dimension to our pack

Bozo wanted Barrett and got him. There is no way Desmond is coming back. We're building nicely for 2018 and we'll have the money to spend. God i love Brett Stewart but he sure is being a **** at the moment.
Stevo i dont think he is being a dkhead mate , what wld you do ? He knows its his last big pay day he just wants to make sure he gets his entitlement .. Yeah he has always been on good money but still far less than his worth .. Slaters& inglis of the world been on close to a million dollars a year all their careers .. Brett stewart at his best had them all covered .. Not you but a lot of people on here seem to forget very quickly how good he has been .. Im telling everybody without him we would have won nothing . Winning a g.f wld have been only a pipe dream .. No one on here wld ever treat beaver like this .. He has had one very poor season 2016 in his career .. If he thinks he can still play , give him that chance he still has to be payed anyway .. A couple of games in 2017 & we will all know ..

Myles isn't the forward we needed, maybe 5 years ago but not now , so we need a James Graham or similar , an " enforcer " to back up Darcy and create some real fear in opposition packs.

And without a doubt a strike centre.

I'd say they would be hoping young Tommy Wright can step up into 5/8 when Green moves on.

The rest can build in to the side, much as the young guns of the 2005-2006 era did.

I'd say with 1.4 Million becoming available in 2018 after Skivvy / Snake are gone we are well positioned to create a Premiership winning side with a big shot for 2019-2010.

I hope you are right, Snake has been one of the most influential players of the modern era, in my life I rate , Fulton, Randell, Eadie , Lyons,Toovey, Lyon, Beaver and B Stewart as the best I've seen ( loads more could be added but tried to keep it at less than 10) , and I hope last year was an aberration but I have a terrible feeling it wasn't !

Not exactly in line with this post mate, but have a question for you. There are a lot of people critical of Baz (still) and it may be fair enough or may not be. I personally think I will reserve judgement until rd 10 or so next year. Anyway, one thing I have noticed is that when Toovs was there, it seemed every player was looking to get out of Manly. Led by Choc, Foz AND Skivvy but there was certainly an issue with people wanting out. If we fast forward to now, it seems the tide has turned.. We don't have people like James Graham, Whare, Bird and others who seem to maybe want in? I know we have been linked to plenty but if you look at a club like StG or Newy, not many linked to them because of the state the club is in.. So the question, do players (money pending) want to play for Manly again? Or am I being unfair to Toovs?

For the record he's been off for at least the last two seasons, and I'd go as far as the back end of '14 when we lost to the Dogs in the finals and he was - sorry to say but nothing short of pathetic. That doesn't take the gloss off what he did in the glory days because no one goes out firing like they did in their prime, but you DO have to weigh it up a little against how he's handled his downside (with his apparent feud with our next gen and his post Glenn sooks).

At best you leave like Beaver did - not offering what you used to but accepting and playing your role as part of a team that finishes on top. You realise your time has come and gone but you still have something to offer so you suck up your pride and do what's asked for the betterment of the team.

If you believe the romours that were floating around.....Barrett was actually the third choice. They wanted Des, then apparently sounded out Brad Arthur when Des fell though, and then we got Barrett.
Too much is made of the coaches. Des team came 7 Barrett 13 Arthur 14. Penrith came 6 and they have a crappy coach and raiders came 2 with Stuart!!!
If we tackle for half the game and catch and pass for the other half with a decent 6th tackle option we will make the 8 regardless who is coach!

Barrett copped a perfect storm last year, injuries galore, legend not really wanting to be there, no proper 5/8, he couldn't create much due to those circumstances.

2017 is different, a proper 5/8 will make a big difference plus all those players witheither a lot or something to prove, IMO there's no doubt we will be better.

As @Ryan has often said " no doubting Baz has bought in" ( not so Cartwright but that's another story) so I think given a better draw , and a normal run of injuries that yes after 8-10 weeks we are likely to be less " Baz Bashing" than we have.

As to the Toovey analogy, who knows , somehow I doubt that!

2015 he had a very good season he scored 16 trys & set up plenty ..

Early in the season, but the rot did start towards the middle of 2015 and was in full swing by the end of that year.

And let's not talk about 2016!

Like all, I hope he comes back strong again for one more crack but I doubt it!!

2016 was a year that we saw snake play busted both physically and mentally . I personally think he has nothing left and all Bozo's coaching staff and all Bozo's men will not be able to put the Snake back together again

You are both probably right .. We cant have him playing like 2016 but he still deserves a chance he is only 31 .. Im sure deep down he knows when its time to give it away .. He will get payed regardless . Just as much as we dont want a repeat performance of this year im sure snake wldnt want that either .. You dont just lose your ability to play the game maybe his desire just wasnt their last year but i wld rather think it was forced on him by injury .. I know nobody agrees but i think he still got at least one good year left in him .. I hope he runs out in the no 1 jersey for the opening couple of games .. If he is not up to it we will find out soon enough ..

Snake is done. I'd love to see him play on but I don't think it'd be beneficial to the side nor ushering in the future. He will always be the prince and will always be a manly
Legend, the respec is there to leave it up to snake, but a decision has to be made sooner rather then later! That needs to happen for our squad to finalise, our combos to fire and for barret to work in with the next gen!

Stewarts first 2 or 3 games in 2016 were far from horrible, most were over the moon he was back in the side as he had the team structured in defense, something TT was lacking in the first 2 rounds.

He played very well against the sharks, the try he grubbered through for TT was not a bloke who had given up, looked to me like he just couldn't run anymore and was playing on due to all the other injuries.
