The greatest NRL stories ever told

The great Manly culture we all love starts and ends with one man - Bob Fulton. He is where we get our winners DNA. Without a doubt the heart, soul and brains of Manly.
well for me it was 1967 and I was 3yo and the blonde on the back page of the 'The Daily Mirror' was enough to bring me here 50 years later.....weird hey....but just quietly I've done lots of other things as well in that time (-:

The Immortal , The Sea eagle Legend lives on
God bless Bob Fulton

"Bob Fulton: I played with him at Easts

One day we were playing St George at Leichardt Oval...we were struggling and he was Capt and was playing lockforward that night."

Why were Easts playing StGeorge at Leichhardt Oval? Only thing I can think of was a possible Amco Cup midweek game.

Here it is, Bozo setting up the first two tries
The first from an explosive break up the middle where he left the defence for dead and the other a precise up and under for the fullback to score near the posts
The Immortal was incomparable .

For those that had no idea ...
This is a photo when the Immortal was Knighted by her majesty Queen Elizabeth

.... that was until when you were 13 years older and saw the blonde on page 3 .... then your whole world was turned upside down 🙂 .... Bozo who ?

Still remember the time well when Bob Fulton was lured to the Roosters from Manly and with the considerable help of Kerry Packer"s big dollar backing and despite Arko"s best efforts to retain him . With limited other top line certres avalable at the time ,Arko recruited three quite handy centres in Robbie Parker [Wests Magpies] and Peter Cootes and Simon Booth [ Newcastle] to fill the breach but Bozo "s previous brilliant input was just too hard to replicate . It did not also help Manly"s cause for the following season when Phil Lowe left unexpectedly at almost the same time to return to the U K . However such was Arko "s always exceptional recruiting acumen and initiative , he had the Sea Eagles winning a premiership just two seasons later . So to my way of thinking , not just Bozo Fulton especially but also Arko as to embody and symbolize much that is so special and great with the Manly culture and identity, past , present and future.

Manly Daily 2013.....
FORTY years after the toughest grand final in history, Manly's godfather Ken Arthurson remains adamant Bob Fulton, one of the four original immortals, remains the club's greatest ever player.
Arthurson was asked the question when guest speaker at a Gold Coast Titans luncheon at Skilled Park last Saturday before the thrilling Sea Eagles v Titans match.

The 83-year-old legendary figure didn't hesitate.

"Bob Fulton is my choice and while I greatly admire some players in the current side - especially Brett Stewart and Jamie Lyon - Fulton remains top of the tree," he said.

Arthurson's rating of Fulton is timely.

Manly's upcoming round six game against the Cronulla Sharks at Brookvale Oval on Sunday, April 14 will salute the 1973 grand final when two brilliant Fulton tries saw the Sea Eagles beat Cronulla 10-7 in a thunderous decider.

Bozo was the difference.

Put him on the other side and the Sharks would have won.
