While we are at it... I am sure the ground announcer at Brookvale is a nice guy, but he's a terrible hype man.
I dont think any club has a Female ground announcer
I would like one with a Sultry Sexy voice at Manly
I would pay the price of admission just to hear her

The game is now just a franchise driven bunch of exhibition games for 27 rounds. All the tribalism and expectation has gone. Realistically what teams can win the 2025 premiership. Penrith or Storm. The rest are making up the numbers.

Nah.
Penrith can't win, 5 in a row is impossible.
Which means Storm plus one other side in the GF, which will be a 2 horse race so some other team will have a chance.
Which side will that be? 6 or 7 will start the season with serious intentions and Manly will be among them.

A quote from the Great Nelson Mandela for you feathered friend SER8
IT ALWAYS SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL ITS DONE......

One premiership win is probable
Two is incredible
Three is Unbelievable
Four is Impossible and so is five etc ...

Great People turn the Impossible into Possible
I Believe the Great Panthers are not done yet and can do it again

If the 2025 grand final is Penrith v Storm again I honestly believe it will be bad for the game, people will deadset lose interest and it will give the aerial ping pong circus more ammunition and potentially even see nrl tv ratings die

Penrith are an all-time great side but without JFH and Luai they won't be as dominant. Plus they are way overdue for some injuries at the pointy end of the year.
On the Law of averages - they're guilty!

I know what you mean and I agree with you, but I seem to keep eating my words year after year lol

Since writing this article, I spoke with the NRL and Manly about my concerns.

I was treated very respectfully and they paid attention to what I had to say.

I asked the NRL why was the 2025 draw not available yet? as it is not great that fans are being pressured to renew without knowing what day and time the fixtures will be? Harder for people who live outside the district like I do and for people who like to plan things in advance. Their response is that the current international test games are their focus. The draw will be out within the next 2 weeks.

I also asked them why I am forced to deal with ear splitting noise at games? I am going to a rock concert or a footy match? They stated that its all about creating the atmosphere and creating a buzz. All I requested is they turn down the volume as its ruining the game day experience for people like me.

When I mentioned the AFL game experience which is currently streets ahead in relation to comfort, affordability and how members are treated really well, the NRL guy said, they have their way and we have our way.

After speaking with these people, it is obvious that things are not likely to change and therefore I will get a 3 home game membership as I think that enables me to support the club and go to the games I really want to and time friendly times.

It was a difficult decision as I've been a seasoon ticket holder for years.

The game has moved on and will continue to evolve, my support for Manly will always be there as they are my first love, It will be in a different capacity now!!

Good Morning My Passionate Manly feathered friend
We share the Greatest love of all loving the once Greatest club of all

You are right . The game has evolved and moved on
But the people running our club have not been capable of keeping up with the Pace and Prosper with Premiership winning Glory
People in charge of our Club are Accountable
As We are all accountable to our selves and our success in what we do
To be in denial of this is to remain delusional

I agree completely. I was a season ticket holder for 20+ years and I won't be again in the future. It's just not enjoyable anymore.

And then is it better to win a TV ratings game by 200,000 or have a membership based of 1.35 million people like the AFL, compared to the NRL of only around 350k. PVL thinks he has the greatest game of all, but it's still only east coast. 8.5 million for AFL crowds in 2024, compared to 4 million for NRL. Im not an AFL fan, but as a game with people participation, its way way ahead.

I don’t think crowds are the greatest indicator, from my recent readings NRL is in a far better position financially especially with investment. Whilst only east coast NSW & Queensland make up the majority of the other states, AFL has also failed to expand.

They talk about the clubs being partners but they are in fact the whole game. Membership money goes to the clubs, tv money to the league,

Shrinking the NRL pie to grow the others is not the strategy it should be. Grow the others and the pie will grow but short term interests by NRL and TV have always been the primary focus

The NRL and AFL do indeed have different ways due to tv influence
Afl rules its pie while the NRL gets served its

Grizzly old fart
I've been a Manly supporter since about 1965 and recall the Sea Eagles struggled to achieve supremacy in the late 60s and early 70s. Always reading up on Alan Clarkson' s comments about the games before and after. Heading down to Brookie (I lived up the hill) for games rain or shine. Visited numerous other grounds was well as the Game of the Week at the SCG. Attended every one of the 70s grand finals, Manly played and one in 1979 when between the Dogs and the Dragons.

But call me a dinosaur if it makes you happy, but I enjoyed being close to the action, shouting out to the players and refs, watching young players coming through the ranks through 3rd grade , Reserves and first grade. They were like family. Park football was supreme.

I'm an old fart now, and I'm afraid I rarely attend a match (Live near Parramatta now). My interest in watching the TV matches has also diminished. Still love it when Manly wins, still enjoy the skills of the players, but the magic for me has diminished. I've got other things to do. Someone mentioned attending A grade matches and its something I'm seriously considering. I'm afraid I was raised as a Park Football Junkie. The modern game lacks that intimacy. Hard to put one's finger on it, and no doubt younger supporters will wonder what on Earth I'm talking about It is what it is. I get on these sites for a bit of fun and enjoy some of the comments. But the game for me seems too contrived, too lacking in spontaneity, watching Johnny Gibbs weave his magic, Fulton pull rabbits out of his hat, Eadie returning the ball like a cannon ball. There's some magic. Turbo, DCE. But for me there's something missing. Hard to define but I think its the intimacy.

The club contacted me today in relation to renewing my season ticket.

I gave up the season ticket seat I held for 16 seasons as I worked out that the value for money was not so good considering how loud the noise is coming from the private boxes in the Lyons Menzies stand.

I purchased a 6 game ticket in the new Bob Fulton stand. I look forward to a change of scenery at the ground. It will be for fewer games of course and the draw gives us at least 5 games at home during the day.

I will always love my club, renewing my membership was never in doubt.

I just hope the club and NRL listen to the fans and turn the volume down on the music so that the game day experience is a better one.

I look forward to next season as I believe we have a team that will challenge for the finals, not sure if we can win with the squad we have though.

Bring on season 2025!!
