The Daly Cherrygraph

Possibly ... just possibly ... DCE's performance last night had a lot to do with the fact that for a rare occasion this year we had forward momentum and plenty of attacking field position ... something that he hasn't had a lot of this year .. and certainly, didn't have in SOO ..

Compare Reynolds game as the contrast .. no field position = shocker for a half.
Exactly!

Wouldn't it be great to see DCE come out with another presser after all the flack he has copped lately and say, I have had a really good think and have decided to hang up the boots at the end of this year and stay a one club player for Manly, Yes I know, I know, wishful thinking . At least that would be a way to save some respect with all us fans

Hate to burst your bubble but ain’t no fans changing their opinion on him… he has hardly missed a game for us in the last 10 years and led us through some really sh*tty periods by playing at Origin-level standards yet plenty of fans STILL have not let go of the Gold Coast backflip and blame him for the massive contract that Manly gave him because they prioritised Foz and then scrambled to keep Chez…

People will always have different opinions of people’s motivations and the reasons behind a lack of club success and I can guarantee you that is not going to change one way or another if Chez hung up the boots at season’s end…

personally I hope he does play a couple more seasons and I am keen to see what he does with a quality roster around him… we will find out whether he always was a gun or whether he only succeeded because he was “lucky” to be in a team of champions early on… mind you, I doubt it will change anyone’s opinion of him either way…

roosters must be salivating
They should be because they are a good side that is very poorly managed by their halves… Sandon Smith’s Anzac Day game stood out so much because it is nowhere near the norm as the majority of their tries seem to come off individual brilliance… Savale is a great long kicker but neither are great decision-makers at this point…

They do have Chad Townsend.

DCE captaining Queensland to the 2020 origin series win with a backline of Corey Allan, Edrick and Brenko Lee & Philip Sami plus a few other forwards will always be his greatest triumph.

How Queensland won that series Fittler should have punted on the flight home

Im not sure how that outcome works and what it changes by way of anyone's thinking tbh.

Firstly I feel Manly in some years have had a quality roster and a couple more were ruined with injuries to key players. But to your point, I dont see how going to a strong team/quality roster and winning another GF shows he was a gun all along, it just means he went to a team with a quality roster that would reach near top of the table by end of year, like the early manly teams, and played his part in winning the GF like he did with Manly.

The last 10 years shows me he has some freakish ability, we have all witnessed that! But he doesnt keep his head on, and nor is he consistent like the Cronks, Thurstons and Cleary of more recent years. They were/are guns and pretty consistent, particularly Thurston as much as I hate to say it, leading the cowboys from the front over the years as they finally built into a GF winning squad.

These players were always a danger. DCE is not.
These players always at least had a go. DCE does not.
