The Daly Cherrygraph

If he gets paid $1m+ a year, you can guarantee that it wouldn’t be that amount on the rorters cap. DCE would be spending a lot more time on the golf course however
Could start a retro primary school canteen program, donating all the brown paper bags for kids’ lunch orders…

I can almost see my mums handwritten “1 Meat Pie with sauce, thank you” written on that.
We were a bit tight for money growing up in a single parent family, so rarely got to order lunch at the canteen. It was often Vogel multigrain bread from the freezer with butter and Vegemite… 🤮 But those occasions when we did get to put in the brown paper bag orders with the coins inside were special ☺️🙏

You obviously younger than me..Vogel Multigrain was for the rich kids at Punchbowl, in the 70's

My mates mum was the convener, always had "leftovers" 😉

Vogel's bread .... now that's memory lane. I swear that even when that bread was bought straight from the shop on the day is supposedly baked it was always stale.

It was a bit fancy, but in those days mum believed it was the healthiest option for us kids, so she’d compromise on other stuff to order a couple of loaves and stick them in the freezer. As kids we’d have to take the frozen loaves out in the morning before school, stick a knife between slices to try and pry off a slice, and then scrape some butter and Vegemite across the frozen surface… wrap it in glad wrap and shove it in a Tupperware container, and into the bag. There were plenty of times I just couldn’t stomach it for lunch 🤣

You need to keep up with the conversation Cochrane. The issue related to a statement made by Budgie, who actually is one of my more favourite commenters, saying that supporters don't like DCE. I know what he was trying to say but I just added that there are those who do favour him. I suspected I knew what Budgie was trying to say, but I just felt it needed to be made less absolute. Its quite obvious that, as said, DCE polarises the fan base for multiple reasons, some justified and some not. That was the point. No other hidden agenda there I'm afraid Cochrane. By the way your nom de plume uses the name of one of my favourite players Mal Cochrane, who I worked with for a short time after he retired. No hidden agenda there either.
Mal Cochrane is often forgotten when talking about our great club players.

Yeah, I just thought its clear here that he has his supporters and also knew what Budgie was trying to say and didnt see the need for it to be made less absolute, but all good, just wondered why and you explained.

I actually hope that slater grows some balls and punts DCE from the next 2 games. Then hopefully that is motivation for DCE to prove him wrong and we benefit from some added determination in his games for us

I've usually defended DCE, but for mine he's basically given up on this season, just playing out time. If his form for Manly gets better I'll be surprised.

TBH, I don’t think that’s his mindset. I think he genuinely values rep games above club, but his ego also wants to be the best at all levels. I tend to believe his age is catching up and as this continues, his deficiencies will continue to stand out.

Therefore, I see him treating the club game as a chance to work on some things in his game as a tune up for Origin 2, which is what he really sees as important.

We were the same. Vegemite sambos almost every day - getting a pie from the canteen was a rare treat. Sometimes a finger bun as well.

I haven’t watched the Matty Johns show in ages. But when they said Api would be on the show last Sunday night,I thought I’d have a look, as I enjoy listening to him. But what I got was three morons talking about the merits of Tyrell Mays’ man bag! I thought it had to be a gee-up at first, until I looked at Apis sheepishly embarrassed facial expression. If that’s the specific audience Fox is catering to, then leave me well out of it.

The Matty Johns Show is Fox League's version of The Footy Show. A low brow humour show hosted by boofheads, for boofheads where they occasionally they talk about the footy.

And in saying that I guess I'm one of the boofheads because I do watch it sometimes.

It always seems unfunny when the person making gags laughs manically at their own jokes. M Johns is one of those people

Yeah it's all about personal prestige for him. I think he will lift after Origin because his ego will like the idea of being a 2x premiership winner, unfortunately he has probably already stuffed that by playing out his contract saga in public again.

DCE may have done himself out of a new contract after that performance. God, I hope the chooks sign him for 2M over 2yrs. I remember Jamie Lyon's second last year in first grade people like Joey johns were saying "he could play another 3-4 yrs".. then our great man had his last year and it was clear he was done. I sense the same with Cherry. He is done. So pls sign him roosters.. would be ace

If the rorters backflip....

Maybe our esteemed retention committee will re-sign dce for another two years!!!!! lolol

Oh the horror, like when our canteen ran out of caviar to consume with the pheasant. (the shame)
