The Daly Cherrygraph

It would be sooooo funny if no team ended up making DCE a formal offer. We did & he rejected it. That may come back to bite him.
I would think he needs a very good game in origin or the politis “my word is good enough “ will be tested. If the chooks are getting nervous he will produce though. His really only consistent form patches, career wise is when he is playing for a rep jumper

and if he has a dig in origin , i cant see the manly fans warming to him. By seasons end we will have carried him through e season where has only played for the goals of chez and left manly to suck lemons

Good plan except ... there aren't any weaker sides!
at least not consistently weak that you can count on.
Except us, Goldie and the Knights We have definitely been a weak side this past two months. 5 losses 2 wins 1 bye since Rd 4. If Madge can get Brisbane up we might be 1 point off last place by the end of round 13. Unfortunately, we get them at a bad time with Cobbo and Walsh due back.

Any thought on shifting DCE to 9 for the few games in middle of the season and blooding Walsh against weaker sides… I know he isn’t ready for the physicality of NRL but for a few weeks here and there? DCE can get beat up in middle (who cares) but with ball might be ok…
If DCE got wind of this.. he probably threaten not to come to training

I'm still of the firm belief its all been done with the Roosters since prior to his announcement
That’s most probably true, funny that the interviewed Connor Watson and he said he hopes Sandon Smith isn’t going anywhere. Sounds like not only the roosters supporters don’t want DCE, but the players aren’t keen on him either

I love this Politis handshake narrative that is spun in the media from time to time; how many players have the Roosters cast off over the years? I recall favourite son and premiership winning halfback Mitchell Pearce on a bus to Newcastle. I remember Kyle Flanagan on the scrap heap after one season of a three year deal. Seems the handshake is no longer binding after the official contract is signed and lodged 😂

Maybe players are thinking that its not the place, the paradise that it used to be, hence Fifita backflipping and the way players are getting offloaded because if they dont perform by a certain time and consistently, hence Dom Young, or in Tyrell mays instance, he doesnt fit the culture there, Brandon Smith, they are moved on. Whats the saying, the grass isnt always greener at Moore park

I also believe the deal was done last year, given dollar was seeking but couldn’t secure his release, explains the chooks last minute play for Townsend, as Savala and Smith weren’t in the picture then like they are now, Savala’s on an 85k development contract, DCE may well be their next Chad only far more expensive.

And the clicker, I think the chooks will win the comp this year, which would be kind of ironic, as long as Cherry doesn’t secure an early release, then crumble the following two years when their old man Cherry arrives, which would be quiet the result for both parties.

Personally, I don’t think the Chooks can beat Dogs or Melbourne in the big dance.
I think you’re right about a deal being done a while back and a release being sought. The Roosters knew Keary was leaving and Daly’s wanted out for a while. The timelines certainly match up.

The noise that the Chooks are going cold on dce is getting more air play on other forums. Has anyone else heard the rumour he now maybe going to the eels ?
That would be so so good. maybe Catalans might end up being his only choice, because all of a sudden there are a few young upcoming (cheaper) 6's and 7's

I think it’s a bit of a three horse race at the moment, definitely the sides you mention.

The chooks certainly have the depth to go all the way, as much as I hate saying it, their roster is stacked and I think their youngsters are coming along brilliantly, physically there a very intimidating side, their 80 minutes is the question mark at present. They have everything they need to give it a fair shot, their halves maybe the other question mark, but we know it’s been done before, they have the hallmarks of our 2011 side.

I’m not completely sold on the dogs yet, yes they are going great guns and their brand of footy, playing that up tempo defence based 80 minutes can certainly take them all the way, it’s weather or not they can keep it up for 26 or 27 games, it’s a big ask the way they play. For mine if they don’t earn the week off in the first week of the semis, you can put a line through them, they will physically come undone. In any case, I’m not sold they can do it yet, they don’t have the depth the rooster enjoy, take last weekend as an example, while being able to roll with the next man up thus far, their ranks are thinning at present, yes injury, suspension and origin all played a part. For me it’s the dogs who miss out.

Then Melbourne, they lost last year and they have made the grand final 5 times following a loss and won 4 of them, that’s pretty impressive and supports the old you have to lose one to win one theory, not sure how that applies to Melbourne, their just the ultimate professionals, they have the squad, the depth, the coach, the big game mentality to win that’s for sure, even history supports them, I just think there not as convincing as previous sides, they are playing close to their potential at present where I see a lot of upside in the chooks game, not saying they can’t or won’t win it, they bloody well might, but I would be death riding them and would love nothing more than to see them miss the GF, I’d prefer the 2 Sydney sides and a good old traditional style GF, I’d also be content if they do make it and lose, back to back GF losses is tough to come back from.

Anyway apologies for the rant, I’m going to stick with the Rooster, it’s an early call, I just can’t go past their depth and potential upside.

To win a premiership.

Yeah I heard it.

I go back to Brandon Smith interview, he said the deal had been done with DCE and the decks were being cleared for his arrival.
