I am not quite sure that some people actually know what Legacy means
I will give another little hint

Legacy is in the eye of the beholder

THE DCE Manly Legacy Perspective

Tony Mestrov Manly Legacy
17 first grade games one try and a grand total of 4 points in his two years at Manly from 1990 to 1992

Here is another Manly Player Legacy

Next time You see him at the ground walking up to the Manly corporate box
Give him a Cheer . Because he never gets one

A local junior, Mestrov made his first-grade debut for Manly-Warringah in Round 12, 1990 against the Gold Coast Seagulls, coming off the bench in a 34–0 victory at Brookvale Oval.
Mestrov played a Grand total of 17 first grade games for Manly and scores one try

In 1994, Mestrov signed for South Sydney. Mestrov was a part of the Souths team which won that year's pre-season Tooheys Challenge Cup. Mestrov played in the final in which they defeated the Brisbane Broncos 27–26 at Albury.[3]

Mestrov played one further season for Souths before departing at the end of 1995 to move to England and take up a contract with the London Broncos. He later signed with Wigan after leaving London at the end of 1997.

Mestrov played for Wigan as a prop forward in their 1998 Super League Grand Final victory over the Leeds Rhinos, and as an interchange forward in their 2000 Super League Grand Final loss to St Helens.

In 2001, Mestrov returned to the London Broncos for one final season before retiring from the game.
Maybe in 2 years mestrov will be credited as being a savvy CEO that cut the star at the right time after inheriting cap issues

Bennett is praised for moving wally on at the right time. Praised as a genius

Maybe its a perspective , maybe today is more important than yesterday .

While penrith had a plan, a gus, the first priority was to move on overpaid, under performing players some with egos who were still good footy players but were not the right fit to build a squad

i personally do not thing the dce contract defines mestov as a ceo and while is cool to chat about , only time will tell, not old lists of achievements

If i had written 27 books and been awarded as a writer would that give this post / opinion more cred……NO

In the real World there are no Myth Maybes In Great Legacys
In the Real world Legacys are earned by achievements

You have as much chance in Mestrov being credited like Arthurson
As Croker being credited like Cameron Smith

Or dce playing next season like he did when he won an award 15 years ago

Past performance does not indicate future earnings is as real, as the real world sayings get

Your key point in your post is In the Real World
So Lets stick to the real stuff
Lets stick to what is real

In the Real NRL World Not all players have the DNA inheritance to keep playing at a top Level .
The 36 Year Young DNA Veteran DCE will once again Lead his State as he lead his Team to a Win last week against the Cowboys

In the Real NRL World there is a Shortage of Elite players that play at the Elite Level
In the Real world these players walk away from embarrassing low ball contract offers and earn what they are worth

At this stage his form has not shown this. Now you could argue we are down on forwards which impacts him (fair) but during the games we lost we was far from one of our better players.

In years gone by I have always thought he was a solid 7/10 player capable of getting a 9 or higher if the conditions suited him most weeks.

Since the announcement I would argue even in the games we have won he has not been as influential. I mean there were serious discussion over him not making the State of O team.

Now he is a champion player so who knows if he makes it back from here but he has been far from spectacular so far

In our run of losses he was horrible. NSW Cup standard at best. In our wins he was good at creating space on an edge and his long kicking was decent but he was far from being our best player.

Notice how he used the SOO presser to talk about himself again and pump his own tyres up again., and the media are saying its weird how he mentions the teams that he could go to and how that is being disrecptpful to the club and the players again so if this doesnt show how selfish he is, then nothing will

So that means he cant run a club?

Absolutely useless argument saying that because he wasn't a good player he is a bad administrator.

Same goes as coaches -a lot of workman like players like Bellamy, Robinson, Gould etc have made their impact.

As opposed to Pinga, who shut the journos down when asked Q’s about Ncastle and said ‘I am in origin camp so only focused on origin’

Maybe the delay is the rorters have realised there's no competition to sign him so they're low balling the offer. Can only hope that he does go to the rorters because it'll just make them even more hateable, if that's possible.

Bozo.. this is not about Mestrov, stop trying to deflect this onto Mestrov to defend DCE and his actions.

DCE is DCE,he's always been in this for himself, regardless of his achievements there is one he's never really been given... and that's a team player..

The guys who voted him players player in 2023 are the same guys who are probably filthy at him now..

Why in so many seasons at the club with so many representative awards and club awards did the previous player groups from 2011 to 2023 not give him a players player award?..
Because being around the guy basically 6 days per week they knew who he really was, and being a team player definitely isn't him.

I'm starting to see what people like
Choc
Gifty
Snake
Matai
Jamie
Kingy
Mason
Hastings
JT
Cronk
Smith
And im sure the list goes on
They saw this guy for who he really was..

And there are players on that list that are truly legend of the game.

It's about DCE and his legacy will be how 90% of Manly fans see and remember him.

I was one of his staunchest supporters, look back at my past posts.

But how i view this guy now is simple.. I don't care about any of his achievements and wish he never wore our mightily Maroon and White Sea Eagles jersey.

It's that simple and I'm backing a lot of supporters out there see him the same way.

What did Jamie Lyon and Jason King see in him. What have they mentioned about him?

Where Galvin lands will tell the tale. My bet is the Bulldogs. What has mucked up DCE is that Manly offered him 750K per season for 2 years so the Rorters can’t register a contract for less than that. So it’s likely that managing the cap is an issue for them.

DCE must be hating Galvin atm, two play makers both looking for the best deal that they can get.
Do they try and get a release/deal now or chance the nervous wait till next season...just lovin' this.
