Calls are growing for Daly Cherry-Evans to stand down from the Manly captaincy amid a horror form slump for the halfback and his team since his contract saga emerged.

So it takes Buzz 6 days to read my / our posts and turn it into an article.

I don’t personally believe he would offer much impact coming off the bench, I’d rather him take the sting out of the game then bring in a game breaker. Issue is we don’t currently have a circuit breaker in the team nor do I see us developing any forwards to fill the role. That would be my preference in an ideal world though.

I think you’re confusing fairness with softness. Jake is not soft. He is as competitive as anyone. You only need to look at him revving up the team throughout the game to know that. And look at how hard he takes losing. He HATES it. He’s an inspirational captain and even when he captained NSW, madge said he couldn’t think of anyone better for that role. What’s more he absolutely loves this club - and what more could you want from your captain.

When was the last time he broke a tackle, I need someone who does more than tackle.period

This is exactly how the club should be thinking. DCE has said he's publicly letting everyone know that his future lies elsewhere so the club can move forward knowing that it's a future without him. So there's no dramas in standing him down as captain and moving forward with Jake as skipper. I'm not saying drop him (unless his form warrants it) just let someone lead the club who wants to lead the club

At this stage mate his form is horrible & does warrant him being dropped to reserves! By doing this & bringing in someone else for the remainder of the season may or may not work but leaving DCE to play the rest of the season as he has been since his decision is no better. At least if he’s gone early….out of sight, out of mind.

When you dig just below the surface, it’s clear that the Telegraph and NRL360’s job is to pick the 2-3 worst performed clubs over the weekend and without defaming anyone, manufacture a narrative with a little spice that can be used to explain their failings. We’ve been telling stories since we were cavemen. It excites people and it sells.

So yes it's Buzz and it's standard Monday click bait bullsht. But seriously if you think to your own workplace. Imagine if your boss has said I'm out of here , don't want to be here. Would you take anything he/she says about working harder , put in more effort for the company, I need you to work back and put in extra time to help me out etc ? Of course not. Same applies here. His disrespect towards team mates, sponsors, supporters, the club and colours is why the results are obvious.

Unless he was retiring it would be different. His lack of transparency is the dog poo in the face of all fans and probably his teammates too.

I thought I noticed him from the Thriller music video. Been scratching my head for 30 years trying to pinpoint where I knew him from.

It's a real dire position to be in when Jake isn't in the form to warrant it, and the rest of our leadership group that's actually on the field when he gets a spell is scarily shallow.

As far as DCE goes I don't care anymore, I wish him well but really just want him gone at this point. Maybe it's selfish but I'm annoyed because I haven't been able to bring myself to watch a Manly game since, especially when our club legend can't even bring himself to play. I'm not pinning the losses on him, but his stats since "The Announcement ™️' have been poor, especially long range kicking.

We've seen Chez out of form before which usually results in him running circles like a headless chook looking for a runner, but at least you can tell he's trying. He's not playing like that at the moment and it's really obvious. I wouldn't be so annoyed if he was having a crack.

But if he tells everyone he's injured, has been for a few weeks and it's affecting his game does this then affect any future contract? He may not want to admit it even if it's true

I think it's doing his price more harm than good playing the way he is now, if it's due to injury.

I’m confused, you say you haven’t been able to bring yourself to watch a Manly game but you’re critiquing Daly’s game?
