The Daly Cherrygraph

So yes it's Buzz and it's standard Monday click bait bullsht. But seriously if you think to your own workplace. Imagine if your boss has said I'm out of here , don't want to be here. Would you take anything he/she says about working harder , put in more effort for the company, I need you to work back and put in extra time to help me out etc ? Of course not. Same applies here. His disrespect towards team mates, sponsors, supporters, the club and colours is why the results are obvious.

In my opinion it would be Tom, but he's unfortunately limited by his injuries.
I think Tom needs a few signs on the sideline to give inspiration and direction to the team.

The First Club Captain who captains from the sideline 🙂

The Press can thank us later in the season for giving them the headlines as always.

Bring it on I say - Des used to be able to use the pressure to turn the team around - Although a difference coach this time and strange times when your Captain doesn't want to be at the club at his own press conference and speaks in riddles.

You may be right, but I’m not so certain the whole situation hasn’t had an effect, I personally think it has and I think it’s pretty clear to see.

There are questions surrounding Daly’s form, is he carrying a back problem or an injury concern? I don’t know, but just listening to his remarks in the presser last week, when asked about Galvin, his answer gave away plenty about his own head space.

To say the situation isn’t having some kind of effect on the playing group, because their men playing a tough contact sport………………his our captain and his on field effort is noticed by the group, his leadership looks off to me (no wonder), you can see the dynamics around him and his captaincy are under stress, it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

I don’t know if he’ll get picked for origin this year, but can you imagine if he goes into that arena and plays out of his skin, or what happens if he doesn’t get picked, struggles to deal with it and what’s transpiring in club land, there’s plenty to play out over the next few months, can’t really say I’m looking forward to any of it.
Of course, it’s all just opinions. I take your point but I see it differently. I think the effort has been there but we are struggling to execute. Daly’s form hasn’t been great but the team aren’t playing so well as a unit.

I thought he put his body on the line when Holmes looked like scoring in the first half; it was a great tackle. He kept trying and put a great kick in for Saab to score, yet the journos keep telling us he hasn’t had a try assist in some time. For me, it’s a cheap sell from Slothfield. Sure, morale might be down, but that happens when you’re losing games. I think we are losing games because of our injury crisis, but again, that’s just my opinion.

The first 40 minutes last week we’re the worst I can remember DCE playing. If your number 7 has a shocker it’s as sure as eggs it will show the score board. We were very lucky to be only down 8 nil against a St George side not playing that well. Why have a man as captain who can’t get out of the joint quick enough and has mentally switched off? It looks like Seibold has given most of the kicking duty to Broooks.

The silly old drunk is not wrong. You can't have a captain, who is meant to be the heart, soul, and inspiration of a team go on television and say he wants to be anywhere but your team.

Morale plummets and we're seeing that now.
Seibold should have stripped him of the captaincy as soon as he appeared on channel 9. Blind Freddy can see his position as captain was untenable from that point.

Actually lol'ed.

Also Seibs went to great pains to say the scheduling wasn't being used as an excuse and others teams have had the same crappy draw.

Like...he said it a fair few times.

Buzz was probably drunk though.
It did sound like he was using it as an excuse though. Just because he says I'm not using it as an excuse doesn't mean he isn't. The scheduling complaint was placed front and centre. It came across like a reason as to why we played so poorly. Then our coach says it's not an excuse. So why bother mentioning it in a press conference rather than just taking it up with the NRL?

The week before he did the same thing with injuries to our squad.

No, Cherry - Evans should have stood himself down from the captaincy, if he had any decency in him.
I agree, but seeing as he didn’t, Seibold should have acted. Seriously, how can you have a captain who both disrespects the club by making the announcement the way he did, and openly says he will literally play anywhere else next year.

Good point, he declared he didn’t want to play for us anymore, why not say, in the best interests of the club I will stand down as captain for the remainder of the year, because his to self centred for such a call.

No doubt we’re struggling due to the injury crisis, but you have to acknowledge that Jakes response seemed off, the way Daly played this out was off and I personally believe you can sense the friction between Daly and Seibs, just watching our pressers.

It’s not a great situation no matter how you look at it, I personally can’t see it producing anything positive, I actually won’t be the least bit surprised to see things become a lot worse, especially as we head into origin and what may or may not develop around that situation, anyway guess we’ll just get to watch what unfolds, but like before, I don’t imagine I’m going to enjoy to much of it.

I am having trouble comprehending what I see as the irony between the treatment of DCE versus Galvin.

One who has been backed by his club for 15 years from a junior to captaincy holds his own press release, quits before his club gives him an offer, says he wants to play on but not at this club and is heralded for looking after his future, himself and his family.

The other is 19, is tabled an offer 18 months before the end of his contract, says no thank you, he wants to play on but not at this club, his club issues the press release, and he is condemned as being disloyal, selfish, greedy and unceremoniously dumped to reserves.

Not saying there are any rights or wrongs above, just highlighting the way the concept of loyalty has been applied across both stories.

And based on the above, one thing is virtually assured. If Manly removed the captaincy from DCE the world and possibly the universe would fall upon Seibold's and Mestrov's heads. And NRL journos bonuses would be guaranteed.

Because that's not how dce wanted the narrative to be. He thought what he did was going to be understood by everyone and that the media and fans would believe him that there were no probs with him and the club.

Then in the next sentence basically says he will retire or play anywhere else but manly next year. Oof!

Normally disagree with Buzz but can't today he is spot on and Seibold needed to be called out along with DCE. To bring up the draw as an excuse when we have had an easy draw with a heap of home games was a terrible look. As for DCE he should have had the captains armband removed the night he went on national tv and trashed our great club. No problem with any player leaving but if your heart is not in the club you can not be skipper.

Spoon is the boss apparently. The coach is supposed to be the highest authority in a team environment. As the leader he should have made DCE relinquish the captaincy. We have been horrible since he put the entire club in the movies.
