I'm actually excited to see what direction the club takes replacing our money obsessed captain. It opens the door for a Ben Kennedy like signing in the halves for a couple of years before unleashing the young lads we have waiting in the wings. Adam Reynolds would be great for a one year contract.

Yeah the other night, he thought he was punishing the administration at the club, but they’re just suits that don’t follow the team, rather, are invested in an ongoing pay-check. The people he really punished are you and I - the members and fans - who are and always remain ‘the club’.

Players being loyal is not so rare @frank stokes
There are many more like Matt Scott, Laurie Daley, Brad Clyde, Steve Matai, Jason Nightingale, Geoff Toovey, Andrew Johns etc... not to mention players who went to a club after one season and remained loyal such as JWH, Thurston etc. It is much rarer for a player to play over 350 games and then abandon ship. In fact, DCE will be the first player/captain in history to display such disloyalty. It's a fair achievement.

Whats done is done and if I were in charge Id be going all out for Fletcher Sharpe for next year. No idea what his contract situation is but with Brown going to Knights it could be a chance. Anyway contracts mean sweet FA these days. In meantime get Lehi slotting into 5/8 for when DCE is at SOO or if he starts pulling a head if he cant handle it at Manly anymore ( then drop him to reggies).

In the fair dinkum department the chez has had many seasons where he didnt live up to his lofty price tag so its a bit squeamish watching him play it out so openly every time he thinks he has hit his bonus quota
My post alludes to the fact he was probably on 1 mill last season and possibly this and was possibly agitating for not much more but future seasons a year ago,
The club had no obligation to release him so using that as an excuse to act all entitled because he had to see out his contract seems poor judgement if that is the case
Nothing he has done is wrong except for his handling of it. The optics are that he seems bigger than the club. He is and has been our standard and i have long been critical of that standard because of these very reasons
Its time Manly grow a set, stick him in reggies and use this moment to realign that standard for the club.
Nice pipe dream but may as well put this season in the bin if you do that.
Don't forget DCE would have support from at least some of the players, who know pro sport is ruthless and their careers are on the line every time they take the field.

if manly are struggling to cement a spot, there is No way he is coming back from origin, big deal sorted, origin bonus and holidays booked before the new beginning and leading them to glory

Where did you get the $3M figure from? I don’t think any club would pay $1.5M a year for a 37 year old halfback.
