Sure that D C E will always be respected for his footy ability and playing at a top level for so long and his durability .
Just a shame that he will be less respected ongoing with this recent development and again , largely preventable in many ways if he had applied a bit more discretion and better judgement on his part

Not sure how you can absolve him of all blame given he’s been our captain for the majority of that time and our controlling half back?? Yeah, there are other factors involved, but the record is undeniable. Perhaps he didn’t lose all those games for us, but he also didn’t win enough games for us either.

I am sure there are many games where he ‘went missing’ but, on balance, he has been a very good player for a very long time… can not say the same about Manly as an organisation over that period…

Seriously, if he was as sh*t as many make out then how does he end up as the long-term SOO half whilst playing in a team that have consistently failed to make finals?

Anyways, he is gone so we will see what lies ahead post-Chez…

I’m just glad DCE made the announcement when he did, so that this hasn’t become a distraction or anything. It must have been so annoying for him to get constant questioning about his future plans. Thankfully that has now all gone away.

Would of been better announcing this after Manlys season has ended. It would of been the end of the footy season, and we the Manly supporters would of stewed about all of this in the off season instead of now.

Agreed. As another thread title suggests, it's best to view this as an opportunity. Not like we have much of a choice anyway.

I'm at the point where I'd be pissed if Cherry turned around and said, "Actually, I will be staying at Manly after all…"

Honestly I reckon the journos are just making up **** for clicks now , this is THE biggest story in Rugby League history since the last backflip.

I’m totally over it now , I’ve paused all the sports channels on Facebook for 30 days, it’s just ridiculous what they are posting.

Oh, the drama of it all... think of the children!

Personal opinions on Dollar Cash Evans aside (OK, just that one small dig)... I'm excited for change. We haven't really been that impressive over this last decade, and I don't see retaining DCE for another couple of years changing that. He's still here for this season (at this stage), so he has a chance, along with the team, to lift and do something special this season (however unlikely). I'm just excited to see us build after being hand-cuffed for a decade with the top 3 contracts.

I'm excited to see what we do moving forward.
