Yes I don’t think the divide would be Mestrov and the playing group, though there is potential that there may well be something with the football department manager and coaching staff between the playing group.
If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on Seibs. Things didn't go well at Brisbane and like I've mentioned before, I heard the rumour long before it was ever flouted in the media, that DCE had an issue with the coach. Now, I know I am just Leonard Cohen and I write folk music so a rumour that I've heard means very little but there are eerie similarities in what I was told and what's happened.

My memory is not the best but I thought at the Donkeys the divide was with Seibold and the old boys, was there division with the playing group also.

If you watch some of their performances, you'll get your answer @:) Some of the worst defence I have ever seen on a football field. There was also a report about players walking around with clipboards and notepads and what not; didn't go down well from all reports!

In my opinion, the initial divide at the Broncos was created by the Broncos Old Boys, before filtering down into some disgruntled senior players, and then into the rest of the playing group.

we'll you did say "Give me back my broken night, my mirrored room, my secret life
It's lonely here, there's no one left to torture" and that has to have some relevance to something somewhere.

As suggested by The Courier-Mail, Seibold had a tendency to over-complicate his strategies, which left players perplexed. The Brisbane roster struggled to embrace the complex plans, a significant reason for Anthony Milford’s dip in form.

Cracks slowly started to appear in Seibold’s relationship with his players, and the issues were blatantly clear in July. After suffering six consecutive NRL defeats, Brisbane captain Alex Glenn revealed the squad had opted to dictate preparations themselves, because the players “weren’t having fun at training”.

So disjointed was their trust in the coaching staff, the players were taking matters into their own hands.

Seibold was also reluctant to budge on his methodology — according to NRL.com, several Broncos players claimed their coach had repeatedly ignored advice, determined his strategies would eventually come together.

An emphasis on notepads sessions was also made a mockery of, and as revealed by NRL.com, centre James Roberts spent one session repeatedly jotting down his signature instead of taking notes.

these journo’s are just talking rubbish until something sticks in my opinion. If there was such a big problem with players & coach I’d highly doubt our best young player Lehi signs the extension when he would have been offered big money elsewhere. Same with Haumole, Koula etc. Chez is just money hungry & we all know it

It seems Choc, Snake, Gifty and co. were right about him all those years ago. So was Tallis and the senior players in the QLD Origin team. The 100% Footy stuff was a slap in the face to the club, and by club, I mean us. The club is the supporters. The board, coaches and players are all transient. We are the club and regardless of any concerns he might have with administrators or coaching staff, his display the other night was disingenuous and full of spin. We deserve better.

Agree 100% - but at the end of the day Mestrov and Penn have let us down by not being the highest bidder and being one step ahead of the game instead of being asleep at the wheel.

I think Mestrov should be heavily criticised and probably sacked for allowing this to happen.

I doubt it's everyone. Different personalities, etc. I've been in plenty of workplaces where people like the boss and there's usually just as many that can't stand them. You might be right, maybe it's fine...but one things for sure, DCE has an issue with someone.

The player manager may have instigated this, they are scum, but I doubt he held a gun to DCE's head. Cherry agreed to it too so is just as worthy of scorn.
Not necessarily scum at end of the day it's a business decisions are made for individuals and clubs ,wether we agree or not 👍

You might be right but I think the media are making a big push to change the narrative from Cherry-Evans just wanting more money. I think it’s simply that. I don’t necessarily blame him wanting to cash in on his last contract but the way he has did it is embarrassing

It sounds like DCE told them not to bid though? Back in December he indicated it would be his final year...that tells me that he had/has an issue and wants out. That we weren't the highest bidder might not be the issue.

I think if DCE leaves a result he should have the Spit Bridge renamed after him and he should have DCE banned from crossing it once he leaves to go to work at Easts, but appreciate everyone has a differing opinion.

I recently started listening to this podcast of Paul Kent, like him or not he seems to be close to the story.

If you get a chance this starts at the 9 minute mark and he starts with Penn not being happy with Mestrov and suggests there are other players unhappy with how the club is being managed and of course the Seibold unhappiness with the player group.

I'm sure Penn is not happy with Mestrov, he was cutting new string and organising his eye-hooks thinking he would be able to make him, Mestrov his new puppet.

Tony is a very good CEO, very sharp and quite accomplished in many facets and aspects of public and private business entities.

He is a firm but fair operator and I'm not inclined to believe that some people within the Club aren't a fan of his managerial style whilst others have applauded the measures he's taken.

His is held in very high regard by the other CEO within the NRL and I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't headhunted by the NRL to assist with their (eventual) acquisition and subsequent expansion of the Super League.

Not suggesting you're wrong but if that was the case, why remove Manly from the table? Why not keep them as a bargaining chip? For example, if I am Roosters, I'm sitting there thinking I am long odds to drag him away from Manly, regardless of my offer. Suddenly Manly are out of the equation and I have one less club to compete with? It doesn't make sense to remove them from the conversation if it's money driven.

I think you're right... But where I differ from most, is that I'm siding with Seibold here.

DCE liked Twent and Des 2.0. He didn't like Tooves (apparently). I seriously don't think he's a good judge of coaches.

On another note, there was a certain division between Seibs and the old boys at the Broncos. The period between 2017-2020 was a notoriously fast development in terms of professionalising the code. Lots of ex-players who retired just prior to this period, coming back into coaching jobs, are absolutely shocked by how much has changed in a short period of time.

Many of these old boys, which likely includes DCE, played their best football within an old team, in an old era. These people at the Broncos failed to recognise the changes needed, white anted Seibs, and brought in Walters... Who only reached the finals once, off the back off someone in the new generation in 2023, in the form of Ben Ikin, and a junior development program heralded by Seibold. The Broncos went backwards last year, because they couldn't reach the standards demanded by the modern game.

DCE has had a decade and has done sweet F.A. as the captain. If I'm picking a fight between him and Seibold, I'm picking the one that Bellamy likes better. That is Seibold.

Ok scum might be harsh but lowlife looking to line their own pockets with no regard or concern for the supporters of the club. They'll say Ï'm just doing the best for my client" just like OJ's lawyers said for him. Guess the glove doesn't fit haha
