The Daly Cherrygraph

Are you related to the Penn family? How can you possibly know they've done a good job on this? Anything they touch they shxt the bed ...... The Penns are the one one major consistency in our now > decade long failure. they've sacked coaches, they've sacked CEO ..... I wish they'd sack themselves.
@AndWeDon'tCare has access to info that we dont @Wombat64 In my opinion, he has always been found to be accurate on MWSE contract related information, whilst also not providing any specific details, that havent already leaked out of Manly's Football Department.

Exactly. I for one won’t be that disappointed if he leaves. He’s a good player but I don’t think he’s great. We haven’t won a premiership with him steering the ship for 13 years. I don’t think we’re about to either. I’d rather move on and get a fresh face in there and build for the next 3-5 years. Thanks for the service DCE, good luck in the future i say.
The problem with that is who replaces him? We don't have anyone ready and anyone we do try and sign will cost more anyway ...... Anyway, rant over, whatever will be, will be and the club will survive. I am just sad and surprised that that has played out like this. There is probably blame each way? It could have and should have been handled with a bit more respect on both sides.

You'll be the first one having a whinge when his body breaks down and we still have him on the books for 1.5 seasons at big dollars.

Can't have it both ways.

Odds are he breaks down at his age and that's it.
Incorrect, see if you can find an example at any point of me having a whinge about a player getting injured. Injuries can happen to any player, regardless of age. If you look at odds, have a look at Cam Smith and how he went at the same age

Was the offer fair ? If the sticking point is us offering 1 year, and he thinking he has 2 left, I think the 15 years of service he has thrown our way can have management leaning towards his opinion on that and putting some faith in him

Past track record shows this crew as having no respect at all towards club legends, so I won’t be giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one

This "crew" realistically, has only been the owner of this club, namely Scott Penn and his earlier co-horts, not the current CEO, so I will agree with you, in part on that comment.

DCE was offered a 1 + 1 year deal being a full year with an option in favour of the club for an amount of money equal too the first year of the extension.

Now, DCE knows full well there are 3 clubs who will offer 25% more than what was offered (and it wasn't 400k or even 600k it was more), so there's zero need for him to stay.

I'm a DCE fan but as a poster said earlier, his conduct and the ensuing circus is beyond selfish.

Stay, go, just be a man and make a decision either way.

Negotiations are always a game of financial chess and DCE is brilliant at it and good on him for being able to play the game, better than most.

The NRL's cerebral assassin.

DCE looks after DCE. Although we have got our value out of him for the last 4 years as he has played to his money & potential, coincidentally these years were after we paid him ridiculous overs whilst he played average for us in his previous 8 year contract. Now on the way out it seems as though he wants to squeeze every last cent out of the club. No legacy concerns with that bloke its always been money and he doesn’t care. So fair play to him, what will be will be. Its the very reason Watmough and others disliked him in the first place. Its also why the club has not had the ability to sign top players from other clubs to challenge for a premiership because he took up too much cap in his 8 year deal. If he leaves he will have wasted our time and his own, because he won’t be loved and remembered like Bozo and Fatty were, he will be quickly abandoned and forgotten about by many annoyed older fans. I hope he sees sense.

Holy sh#t, Silvertails is going into meltdown over this!

Lowballed on a one year deal only with us? I am assuming we had already spent most of "his" money for 2026? Who will we have to turf for 2026

HAHAHA DCE has just done a show me the money if he's going elsewhere for more $$$$. This is going to be comical. We have Manly incompetence vs DCE greed.
Is this 2015 or 2025, we've been through this before, problem now is DCE would have probably stayed with us for 200k less than what other clubs are prepared to pay, however now with the management backflip we probably have to meet what the others offer or perhaps more, what a total fark up

Totally disagree. All you DCE haters are about to find out how hard life will be without a decent half back. Good playmakers are as rare as rocking horse poo. A planned/controlled phase out of the DCE era was our only hope of really moving forward without ripping the backbone right out of our group. He's still as fit and strong as any 30 year old. Say goodbye to any hope of silverware in the medium term. I'm devastated by this.

Yeah cause Chez has a history of injuries… pay him what he is worth, not what you think you can get away with…

Can’t wait to (hopefully) hear whether it is final tonight… if Manly truly are coming in with a counter- offer then that is just f*cking embarrassing for the club…

I'm definitely NOT related to the Penn family, and if you've read my posts throughout the years, I'm no fan of Scott Penn.

I'm fortunate, if you can call it that, I'm involved in a profession where I'm exposed and involved in many NRL-related matters and matters like the current DCE matter, come across the desks of like-minded professionals and opinions between us are shared.

We've upgraded quite a deal of players over the years and management of the salary cap is being attended too on the premise, conservatively so, that the next rights negotiations deal may not be the windfall the NewsCorp led media are making us believe.

There a multitude of factors that our CEO factors into the financial management of the Club and he is no mug either.

Again, I reiterate, DCE is doing what he believes is right for him, no different to how the Club believes it is doing what's right for the remainder of the squad, moving forward.

I'm not happy with some of our squad members however, I'm removing the personalities and accepting of the financial decisions that need to be made.
