The Daly Cherrygraph

Mestrov and Penn have ****ed it, and they can get ****ed

Seriously, this bloke has given plenty to the club, no off field dramas, always available, granted he has had plenty in return as well, and they wouldn’t come to the table with something respectful.

They can find something contracts for dickheads like Lodge though

Kiwi,

I'm a big fan of your posts, however, at this time, we should place greater scrutiny on DCE.

The offer was fair, DCE believes otherwise.

We don't have the luxury of a great "third-party people" to assist us, and believe me, one club is catching up on the Roosters in this respect.

Mestrov and Penn to counter with a 2 year offer.

Not over by all reports.
No chance… stinks of a low-ball effort that has been taken as an insult… this would have been well done by now if the club had shown the level of respect deserved by Chez…

Not a hope in hell he simply leaves his mates for “better opportunities “… it is either family-related or lack of trust between player and club…

Spoony was not invited to the wedding of DCE and apparently they don't see eye to eye on some things.

Like Spoony taking defense seriously

I wouldn’t be shocked if Galvin ended up at Manly. I doubt DCE is going home for family reasons; he’s lived on the Northern Beaches for 15 years…my guess is that’s home. I suspect the Roosters have dangled a pretty fantastic post-career incentive of some sort.
Galvin and Brooks. Surely not.

Disappointed DCE has not come out and said anything of him wanting to play on and shutting down the media scrutiny of his next deal and bringing unnecessary distractions to the team and the club, as club captain and playing as long as he has I expected team first from him.

In rugby league, everyone starts with a self-first mindset. Success depends on hitting KPI’s and being influential to the team in winning games.

It’s a sink-or-swim environment where individual performance comes first.

The mindset as a player,
  • Self 1st
  • Team 2nd
  • Club 3rd

But as people grow into leadership, the shift (or at least, the necessary shift) begins:

They start prioritising the team, realising their success is now tied to how well they develop, support, and empower other players.

The mindset changes to;
  • Team 1st
  • Self 2nd
  • Club 3rd

At more senior leadership levels, this concept changes to club first mindset.

The focus shifts to strategy, profitability, and long-term growth. Not just for the business, but for the people within it.

Ends with;
  • Club 1st
  • Team 2nd
  • Self 3rd
Turning into a media circus with News Corp and Fairfax having conflicting information.

Don’t forget he is club captain and for it to get into a media circus is disrespectful to the club, yesterday in the press conference Daly reminded everyone of what he said throughout the offseason.

Without knowing any details the media shenanigans are not what you want from your club captain.

Was the offer fair ? If the sticking point is us offering 1 year, and he thinking he has 2 left, I think the 15 years of service he has thrown our way can have management leaning towards his opinion on that and putting some faith in him

Past track record shows this crew as having no respect at all towards club legends, so I won’t be giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one

I'm the biggest Penn critic however, they have been extremely proactive in negotiations and were working towards a revised deal, retirement was mentioned along the way (in the early stages of negotiation), however DCE is after a certain amount of money and he is well aware of the dearth in the marketplace for a quality half-back.
Are you related to the Penn family? How can you possibly know they've done a good job on this? Anything they touch they shxt the bed ...... The Penns are the one one major consistency in our now > decade long failure. they've sacked coaches, they've sacked CEO ..... I wish they'd sack themselves.

Haha… yet now there is a “counter-offer”… seems they can find the extra money now…

Part of me wants him to tell Mestrov & Penn to shove it up their a*se… but the greater part of me just wants Chez to finish with us… F*CK I will be devastated to see him at another club…

You could argue there has been 2 major consistencies in the last decade of failure.

Here we go again. Seriously, if any player - any player - doesn't want to be at the club, the door's that way. If you want to be a one-club player, great. If you don't, that's fine as well. But don't insult everyone with "I'm not staying at Manly, but I'm not sure whether I'll play on or not - I'll make that decision later in the year."
Exactly. I for one won’t be that disappointed if he leaves. He’s a good player but I don’t think he’s great. We haven’t won a premiership with him steering the ship for 13 years. I don’t think we’re about to either. I’d rather move on and get a fresh face in there and build for the next 3-5 years. Thanks for the service DCE, good luck in the future i say.

You'll be the first one having a whinge when his body breaks down and we still have him on the books for 1.5 seasons at big dollars.

Can't have it both ways.

Odds are he breaks down at his age and that's it.

The fresh face was Humphreys. We had a future star.
