The Daly Cherrygraph

Soooo where to now for DCE. Does he take this as motivation to show that he's still got it and lead this team to better form and results. Or does he kick stones and basically take a "fu*k the world" attitude. Interesting times ahead for this dysfunctional side.
He has to use it as motivation. Surely! We actually have a pretty decent next month coming up. Moving on from the abomination that was Newcastle of course. Win the next three and the bye gets us back on track. The more this is shaping I reckon he retires at the end of the year. And if so, he surely uses the dumping from Qld as motivation.

As far as Qld goes......I honestly wish them luck if they think Tom Dearden is going to look any better behind what is pretty much exactly the same forward pack that got their ar$es handed to them in Game 1.

As a halfback I don't think he brings anything more to the table other than a pair of legs that are 12 years younger.
And he doesn’t have dces kicking game. Not that it was any good in game 1. It’s quite funny the noise around dearden making this big difference. He’s a gritty player dearden, but if that pack gets rolled again, they are no hope.

You make a good point there
Dearden is a runner and not a playmaker
Under Dearden at half the Cowboys also lost last week
Dearden was also out played by DCE when Manly beat the Cowboys on their home Ground
A fresh Dearden also came on the last 15minutes of the SOO game when all the players were fatigued
Dearden is a runner but he will be running into the fresh and fiery NSW pack that will have a difference consequence

Mate, Brandon Smith who is literally at the Roosters announced it a while back. Deal done ages ago.
Yer, pretty funny how he was one of the sacrificial (lambs?) chooks to be moved on, freeing up coin for the process, he was more than happy to spill the beans, had a good old laugh. Conor Watson on the other hand, when asked was a different kettle of fish, he looked a little less comfortable, tried hard to deflect, but you could read him like a book, was a done deal.

Just had another thought, I’ve always thought Dollar played more like a 6 than a 7, how about, roosters move Smith on if rumours are right, to the cows, Savala stays on as 7 and Dollar wears a new number? Still leaves Walker, will be interesting to see how they play it, maybe the hand shake gets terminated, cough, cough……or they just add to the depth of their depth….must suck having 2 first grade sides hanging about the club.

I think you’re right, but I also think Uncle Nick has a team of high paid lawyers pouring over the agreement looking for loopholes.
I think I'd prefer the Roosters to be stuck paying DCE 2mil over the next two years whilst he declines and Smith, Savala and Rodwell go elsewhere, than the Roosters back.out a DCE gets caught with nothing.

Both satisfying for different reasons but I'd take option A.

They (both DCE and the Roosters) keep telling us that there's been no deal done. And there's been no contract registered with the NRL so therefore there's nothing for lawyers to be searching for loopholes in.

Tell Disco, I was just agreeing with him. And of course the Roosters do everything by the book.

That was only one media side of the story feathered friend
As there is always two sides of the story as smart people should know
Other Journalist were saying that he was a scapegoat for QLD
He was the only player to get dropped
No forward or back stood out for them as their forwards got rolled
The pressure is off DCE now and its on Slater and all his under performing players that were retained

DCE said that this year is his last for Manly
He also said that he may retire or play on and he was open to both options
Smart people should know DCE is the ultimate professional and Professionals do not get intimidated or get fazed what other people think and post
DCE has had a career that will surpass the Mediocre Mestrovs and Parkers and Crokers
The players that have not won premierships like the Great Turbos and Jurbos
DCE 's knockers on here can post all the negatives that they can try and find but they will never over ride all the Great accomplishments that the DCE Legacy will stand in time
The Legendary DCE Legacy is longer than any Negative posters Bitter posts

Impressive list but you forgot something because he also won the 2025 Biggest Wanker award.....

This would be the best outcome for DCE and the club alike. Here is hoping.

Dollars Chase Every Cent is back in Qld Maroon.

Beau Fermor says hello
I stand corrected feathered friend
Thank you
But I still stand my ground for DCE being a scapegoat and this Media posts puts it in perfect perspective

‘P**s-poor form’: Former Blues enforcer blasts ‘grub’ Slater in stunning spray after DCE call

“Honestly, I cannot believe it,” he said on Triple M’s ‘Breakfast with Beu and Woodsy’ show.

“Kurt Mann will come onto the bench, Tom Dearden will start at halfback so they’ve dropped their skipper Daly Cherry-Evans. This hasn’t been done since Trevor Gillmeister in 1996.”

Woods particularly thought the selection bombshell was “so funny” given Slater’s infamous “we’re still Queenslanders” line when asked about making changes last year.

“To me that’s p**s poor form from Billy Slater,” Woods said.

“After game one in your press conference you said it wasn’t about the personnel, you said you didn’t play too well.

“You’ve come out and axed your captain Daly Cherry-Evans. You’ve said it wasn’t a scapegoat, but mate it’s a scapegoat.

“Everywhere you look you’re not used to getting hammered in the media. I think he did respond to backlash, the pressure and criticism got to Billy.
“He’s lost three (games) in a row, which is unheard of for Queensland, they’re going to Perth, which is a flat track for NSW.

“You look at this squad, Cherry-Evans should be there, I’ve heard his commentary around it that he got his chance in game one.

“Well, there should be a lot of other players that should be moved on too, because you look at guys like Harry Grant — he’s 0-6 starting at hooker. It’s very hard to play behind a forward pack that’s not going forward. You look at Moe Fotuaika, he had 39 metres in the first game.”
Woods didn’t stop there though with the two-time Dally M Prop of the Year calling Slater’s character into question — and suggesting he should be in the firing line if he loses this year’s series.

“It’s so funny because you watch these blokes up north and they say we don’t get Origin and they use this pick and stick mentality. Well Billy you’ve just turned on your skipper,” he said.

“I want to see the real Billy Slater come out — the grub that we know of. This is a bloke who kicked John Skandalis in the head and got a six-week suspension. Everyone wants to go ‘oh he’s such a nice bloke’.

“You’ve won your first two series’ as coach, you lost last series, you picked a side that we all thought NSW would win 13-plus — lucky NSW didn’t play well.

“If you lose this second series, does that mean you’re going to get sacked? Because Kevvie Walters got sacked after two series losses and he only coached four.

“There’s a lot of pressure on Billy Slater. I watched his body language in the press conference (after game one) and he not a man that is confident in what he’s doing at the moment.”

Woods’ co-host Beau Ryan agreed that Slater has not been his usual cool, calm and composed self lately.
“I’ve never seen him rattled,” he said.

“When he did that press conference last year, saying ‘we’re Queenslanders’, that was the first time I’ve ever seen him lose any type of measure he had. He was rattled by it.

“He doesn’t usually respond to backlash, he’s set in his ways, he’s very professional, he has his methods. But it does feel like he’s responding to backlash and media.”
