The Daly Cherrygraph

Seeing as a lot of us had dce in the 3-2-1 mvp poll, and assuming that he hadn't made the decision after the raiders game, it does appear it's still best foot forward for the rest of the season.

I feel that players coming through these days are 'sad to see teammates go' but then get on with things.

2011 was a long time ago. Maybe our next rookie will win us a comp!

edit: It's been....'amusing' to hear Tallis mention about four times now how 'romantic' it would be for dce to return back to Redcliffe as:

1 - Tallis was happy to be the main cheerleader of the dce is filthy cockroach and never pick him for soo again brigade,
2 - every week a player is still butting heads against 13 other sweaty boofheads - hardly a romantic game, and,
3 - with all due respect to the "romance of Redcliffe" - it is Redcliffe, not Paris or Rome, lol.

Very mixed feelings for the news. I have always supported DCE and will be sad to see him go. Disappointed how this has been played out in the media with no respect for Manly fans.I will be gutted if he puts on a filthy Roosters jumper however would understand if he returned home to QLD and played for the Dolphins. Wish we had not left Humphries go. In the end no player is bigger than the club and we need to stick together as Manly supporters and look forward to the future. Go Manly ❤️🦅

More I think about it, I think the club actually wanted to move him on, but didn’t have the balls to actually come out and say it. If they really wanted him, they could have had it stitched up a long time ago, and my mind has wandered back to Seibolds public comments about Tom playing at 6 as a little teaser to the direction they want to head, 1. Hopoate 6. Tom 7. Brooks until the younger guys are ready to come through

The club boned Menzies in 2008, but the organisation had more runs on the board and handled everything much better than we are currently doing. Probably also helped by the fact everyone knew Beaver would never play against Manly and create any type of situation

After seeing the news and watching 100% footy i have been reading alot on here and other socials to see how the fans would react to such big news and it seems the pitchforks have come out big time.
The situation seems very suss,Weidler,Smith & others were trying to call him out and he wasn't doing a good job of trying to hide that nothing has gone wrong or there's no issues. Him declining Manlys offer on air was the nail in the coffin I wouldn't have thought he would leave at this point but things change I guess. He also states he wants to play on, the way this has come to light at nearly round 4 is a disaster and is enough to derailed, considering Manlys solid form. Alot of fans and friends of mine are very upset and rightly so.
The truth will come out in this one way or another

I think your man Sexton would not of slept well last night.

Honestly… so be it. No surprises. He’s always been about himself — this just confirms it. Fact is, no one wanted him when he first came through. His manager flogged him around and it was Manly — our club — that gave him his shot. We backed him. He repaid us by winning the comp in 2011… then refused to honour his deal, demanded an upgrade, and the club folded.

That move cost us Glenn Stewart — heart and soul of the club — forced him to Souths, and fractured the playing group. That side had a dynasty written all over it, and DCE’s ego blew it apart.

Then came the 10-year deal — richest in the game. Since then? Cap issues, mediocrity, and a revolving door of players. If he genuinely cared, he’d take a haircut now — free up some cash, help us push for one last premiership. That’s what leaders do. Someone should introduce him to Tom Brady — the bloke took pay cuts his whole career to build a dynasty. Seven rings later, still a god.

Instead, he’ll bleed us dry and walk. Typical Cane Toad.

And now he announces it after Round 3 — how the hell does that help Manly this year? It doesn’t. Just throws a cloud over the season. The captain’s mentally checked out three weeks in — what message does that send to the squad? Young blokes wondering if they’re playing for this year or rebuilding already. Should’ve waited till October — but nah, classic DCE.

Honestly… wouldn’t surprise me if the crowd turns on him — like Dylan Brown copping it from the Parra fans. Deserves every boo if it happens.

Time to move on. Back Joey Walsh, back Otoni Large — they’re the future. Hungry, proud to wear the jersey. No one’s bigger than the club.

Up the Sea Eagles.
Lets not forget Foran, we lost him because the club chose DCE, because it was either him or me. I bet l know one person who wouldnt be surprised and sayimg I told you so, Choc Watmough, he wouldnt be surprised one bit

Fulton and Vautin both went to Easts at the end of their careers for money. They were younger than DCE and didn't do anything of note at their new club. It was hard at the time for fans but a smart move by Manly letting them go. I don't want DCE at the club for another 2 years. It would be better if Manly to do the same and just to let him go so they can start to rebuild the team and the culture.

I was feeling sad about this decision but after watching that jizz fest / circle jerk of an interview. I'm angry .......

Our owners have once again shxt the bed with an important contract negotiation. They couldn't organise a root in a brothel.

DCE confirms he is a total wanker and a lying fxckwit. What an arsehole of a club captain. He does not give a stuff about Manly or the fans. .......and clearly never has. Just fxck off and go to Roosters now.

Danny Wierdler was clearly giving a him a wristie under the desk....

Phil Gould was also polishing his knob.....

I thought his interview was pretty good from a personal perspective
Would have been nice to have the club better informed.
Reeked a bit of DCE TV with DCE

Seibs has altered his game positionally , especially as a kicker. Dce involvement as an organiser was through the roof last week, uncharacteristically i thought

I reckon he is just trying to avoid
I want to go to a club that wants to win a comp and has a few offers . just needs to stay fit and uninjured . UH OH

Or back to redcliffe

Redcliffe is Brisbane's version of the insular peninsula

Think he will play like gangbusters until he signs, then origin, the farewell tour before timeshare september
Might finish the season in 14 bench hooker

Manly has missed the top 8 in 6 years out of the last 10 with DCE as our halfback.

Out win % without Tom behind DCE has only just recently crept up to around 30%.

I'm not sure that Manly is losing much success by missing out on DCE's final season or two.

And if the Roosters think they will be getting an inspirational mentor for their off-the-cuff Walker, then best of luck to them

I am of the opinion that yes it's clear he wasn't going to win us a comp off his own bat (proof in the pudding above).... whilst we now have to fast track whatever contingency plan we had, we may fall back down the ladder to a bottom eight team who struggles (atleast for a while)

So long to the absolute wanker one of the main reasons I find it hard to support this team. We move Brooks to half, Turbo to 5/8, hoppa to fb, Garrick back to the wing Tommy 2 to Centre and release Koloa buy Taylan May for 400 - 500k or another centre that can break the line, move Jake auther to lock, Jake into the front row rotation and buy the best front rower and second rower we can get out hands on and we'd be in a far better position than we are now and we'd have a strong bench, also time to promote simpkin and move on from Crocker.
