DCE won't be going anywhere
Mostly because of his family.. he won't want to relocate them, they are well and truly settled in the Northern Beaches.

Then you might say.. he could go to another Sydney club, but he won't, he's been through the whole media circus once before and it really tarnished who he is as a person and he had to struggle hard to get through that, he won't put himself or more importantly his family through that again.

Only last week I heard an interview on SEN with Foz and there was a "what if?" Question.. Foran immediately says.. "what if both Daly and myself stayed at Manly this last decade".. so things like leaving a club they really love does effect the players and never leaves them.

He's also a very proud person and will want to go down as a one club player, with the records to go with that.
And finally he knows there's life after football and he has a more than secure future in the maroon and white post player days.
He will get 2 years and on the right money, he will want another premiership and will do what's required to have a crack in the next 3 seasons, he knows he has the nucleus of a premiership squad, just needing an addition or two.
This is mainly media click bait and hype.

The only disclaimer to all this above is if some Sydney club made an offer of 1.2mill for another 2 years.. then he would have to take it..hands down no brainer and who would blame him.

Anyone that believes he’ll stay because he has played all of his career up to this point with Manly or some blind loyalty to the club, might need to have a rethink.

We support Manly so naturally feel that affinity but it’s a workplace for players. Spending 15 years in a workplace is 15 years of challenges and dealing with personalities and working hard. It’s a job and it’s hard work. How many of you would take a % pay cut of your wage because you don’t like the idea of working for someone else? How many of you would forgo the best possible prospects for future employment because you don’t like the idea of working for someone else? I’m sure there are a few but not many.

Daly has spent the last 15 seasons at Manly because he has been well paid. Sure, he’s probably enjoyed a lot of it, and his family are in the local area. But…if Manly don’t give him what he wants and/or his future looks brighter elsewhere, don’t assume he will stay because he ‘loves’ Manly. That’s fairytale stuff.

I really hope we don’t try and lowball him. We’ll struggle to find anything even remotely as good.
I do think he will take a haircut but it will come down to whether Chez perceives that the Manly offer is showing him the respect that he has earnt during a highly commended career… respect means a hell of a lot more than money (even when you don’t have the coin that Chez does)

Q. “What if Foz and Chez both stayed..”

A. Manly would have had their 2 highest paid players constantly sitting on the sideline

But would the Roosters offer him a unconditional 2 year deal or any other club for that matter .
If it is about money, even for just one season at Manly, well that would be a slightly different matter Also surely however , taking into account tax and managers fees , a haircut of say 300 k and the other factors of his now long Manly connection and future premiership opportunities , should not represent that much of a disadvantage for him .
Should preferably not be allowed to develop into any general distraction for the team's quest for the season ,
Be unfortunate if money could be a problem area but in the present circumstances and Manly 's future prospects , not as if D C E has been disadvantaged over his previous 8 season deal and the open question again of always providing value for money

What a surprise DCE yet again turning his contract extension into a circus. The club should pay only what it can afford especially if that means securing young talent. We are not winning the comp with this squad that is obvious. Too much money invested in Jake and some weaknesses in key positions. 1 year for me and on reduced money. If Joe Walsh is ready I’d move him in the next year. If DCE wants a final year let him have it somewhere else. Hasler did it in 1997. The club owes DCE nothing. He has been very well looked after
I will say this about DCE and all his contract talks - I am not sure there has ever been a quote or anything from him about it.

Even if you go to the whole backflip thing that was very much driven by the club trying to keep Foz etc

When the 8 year deal expired and he signed the current deal, media speculation was that the contract amount be TOP SECRET. I understand his position considering his journey , but its about the only detail that has ever been hush hush . I respect it, but its not reassuring

Ive never seen anything concrete about his contract or expect to, but its always going to be chatter in a cap related sport.

On here people have said he is on 800- 850 ( where did that figure come from ) while the media still have him as a million dollar player. Who on silvertails has TOP SECRET clearance

Any haircut he may take would start from this mystery base

Its my understanding the media get a list and $$$$ and try to correlate, which is not difficult at the top end of the list

When there is an occasional media article listing the highest paid players , D C E in recent times is still listed as a million dollar player .
Had apparently some T P A component [ maybe around 250 K or so to bolster his previous 8 year deal to that stated 1 . 3 mil and would assume at least around the one mil figure now , with or with or without a T P A .
Maybe a couple of clubs are dangling some T P A or fringe benefit arrangement now .
Not in Manly "s best interests to get into a bidding contest ,
Should be quite apparent what he is worth to the club in any future planning intentions and even if confined to one season and that should be that .
Commendable run in the longevity situation to date but that should not discount a season by season consideration by Manly now

He has been nothing but loyal to Manly.
Never wanted to leave, forced out then was able to stay.
Definitely can not be blamed [ D C E ] for that partial circus just prior to his back flip .
Always had the commitment and preference to stay .
Just be a shame if there is some issue now with some contention over a one or 2 year deal arrangement and the present reality with Manly "s short and longer term planning and the club "s best interests going forward

This will be very interesting as to how these negotiations play out. DCE has always been the money many and payed his worth for the large part of his career.
If he is deadset about winning a comp before he retires he has to be content that he has already had the big pay day contracts and now time to give back for glory.
I put my house on it Turbo and Jurbo will take a hair cut for their next contracts for this reason.
If he leaves Manly for say 200k more this would tarnish his name a little.

I have a shocking suggestion ..you may not believe me ..but I think his manager is stirring things up to line his own pockets.
I have faith in our current management ok maybe not Penn. If DCE says I want to transition into some type of coaching role.. it will happen.
If he is seeking $1m a year for 2 yrs we will have a farewell celebration and wish him good luck and a thank you

Fair but he does strike me like a family man
Yes he is a good family man
Securing a lucrative 2 year deal is also setting up for his family
He can Invest in a nice holiday house up there
Sometimes short term sacrifices have to be made
The Accomplished and highly Decorated DCE is no ordinary half
The durable DCE is no ordinary 36 year old retired footy player
The DCE DNA is still a Great Investment in an era that dominant halves are as rare as Eagles teeth
Some things in life are worth Investing in
One of those things is The Great DCE

Haha those unnamed (fictitious) sources must have forgotten they already have Sam Walker for 2026 and 2027 @:D
Yeah but could Walker play 6 and learn off Chez? I don’t reckon he would want to but Sammy is a very inconsistent player for mine… Chez hits the long kicks / drop kicks and Sam takes the chips/ bombs…

mind you, I cannot see Sammy digging into the line as a 6… and you would imagine Walker would be rotten about it…
