DCE Backflip: Everything you need to know Adam Lucius
WHAT’S HAPPENED?
A: Channel 9 News has reported Daly Cherry-Evans wants out of his Gold Coast deal to stay at Manly
WHY?
A: Apparently he’s had a change of heart. His partner is known to be very keen to stay on the northern beaches. And in our experience, the missus normally wins out
IS IT ON THE MONEY?
A: All depends on who you talk to. Manly say they have not heard a word from DCE’s management, Gold Coast say they have not heard a word from DCE’s management and that the rumours are “absolute crap” and DCE’s management say they have not talked to anyone. Cherry-Evans is the only one not saying anything at this stage.
SO WHO’S TELLING THE TRUTH?
A: They all are if you ask them.
WILL IT HAPPEN?
A: At this stage it is more likely than unlikely but that doesn’t mean it will definitely happen. Manly still have another seven weeks to change DCE’s mind. There is definitely something going on and where there’s smoke there is usually fire in rugby league.
WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE THE TITANS IF IT DOES HAPPEN?
A: They will be absolutely ropeable – and rightly so. They sold the farm to get Cherry-Evans to the club and are planning the next 5-10 years around the playmaker. They’ve also let Aidan Sezer depart to Canberra in the belief the Manly No. 7 is headed their way.
WHAT ABOUT KIERAN FORAN?
A: He is still off to Parra…at this stage. Like in the Cherry-Evans situation, Manly have seven weeks to convince him to stay.
WHAT ROLE IS BOB FULTON PLAYING IN ALL THIS?
A: Let’s just say Bob Fulton is a very influential figure and doesn’t know the meaning of the word ‘No’.
WHAT ARE THE FANS SAYING?
A: Sea Eagles fans are dancing down Manly Corso and Titans supporters are filthy. The rest of us are shaking at our heads at a rule that allows players to backflip and renege on deals.
