Kevin Ryan was also a barrister who also went on to be a television commentator for the ABC, calling a number of games alongside Alan Marks including Manly's 1972 and 1973 Grand Final wins.

Edit: prior to his league career, Ryan also represented Qld and Australia in rugby union, playing 5 tests for the Wallabies in 1958 making his debut against England at Twickenham. He was also elected as Mayor for the City of Hurstville from 1974-1979 and as a member of the Labor Party was a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly from 1976-1984 representing Hurstville.

He was also Qld Amateur Boxing Champion in both 1958 and 1959 and trialed for a place on Australia's 1960 Olympic team. He is listed as Australia's 32nd dual-rugby international after making his Kangaroos debut against France at Lang Park in 1964.

As of today, 23 September 2018, Kevin Ryan is 84 years and 28 days old.

On the night of February 9, 1968, premiers South Sydney hosted rugby league's first touch football tournament at Redfern Oval.

Only two Sydney teams did not participate – Wests were probably still at Lidcombe's Railway Hotel and the Bulldogs were a no-show.

Jack Gibson was the coach of the Roosters, Dave Bolton was in the Balmain team, Dick Thornett and Barry Rushworth ran out for the Eels, as did Barry Beath and Dick Huddart for the Dragons, while the Sea Eagles fielded a strong team, including Bob Fulton, Frank Stanton, Denis Ward and Fred Jones.

South Sydney paraded the pride of their 1967 premiership team, coached by Clive Churchill – John Sattler, Ron Coote, Bob McCarthy, Ivan Jones, Jim Lisle, Bobby Honan and Brian James.

He learned it from his coach joe Egan at Leigh, and organized comps at manly on his return in 1955.

The Manly players will appear at Sydney's Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, from 2.30pm-5.30pm as part of a spectacular fan fest in Grand Final week. Entry is free.
