The Anthony Seibold Grievances MEGA THREAD

It’s no coincidence either that the Bulldogs have spent a motza on quality players.

And it’s also no coincidence that the Titans are performing exactly as Manly did under Des , yes , down the bottom.

Of course the coach has an impact on the game plan & tactics but let’s not confuse tactics with player ****ups.

It’s no coincidence that when our forwards are on top we are almost unstoppable, when they are on the back foot , we are woeful.

Is that the coaches fault or the players ??

In your mind it’s the coach.

In mine it relates directly to the players , the coach can only do so much , once on the field it’s in the hands of the 17 that play.
I wouldn't swap our roster for the Bulldogs, but I sure would be happy to swap coaches.

I think swapping the way we are ref’d would help more. Not saying the NRL is rigged against manly im saying that the Dogs are the fairytale team this year like the broncos in 2023. What would the chances have been for Garrick to stay on the field if he did what Crichton did? Max King shoulder made straight contact with Mitch Barnets head which cut him but he got to stay on aswell…

It's a complete cop out to blame the referees for our situation.

I didn’t blame the refs for our situation I clearly just said Dogs have been getting generous calls this year including Crichtons… if we are talking about real cop outs I’d have to say blaming the coach after the tigers game is on top. 3 sin bins is what lost us that game & they had nothing to do with the coaching. Those sin bins were purely on the players/officials

I have said time and again, I did not respond to the Tigers game. I have held the opinion that he is a rubbish coach since the beginning.

The blame game perspective .....
The blame game comes after a loss .
Losers revert to excuses , blaming and pathetic Whinging
Excuses and Whinging is not Character building
Whinging is a sign of Weakness . It it not a sign of strength

The Winning game comes after a resolute win against adversity
Teams that have the tenacity to overcome adversity will have the upper hand in the tempestuous
finals fight for premiership winning supremacy

Whinging is a sign of Weakness

I am not surprised we lost to the Tigers with 3 players sin binned. Most sides would have. IMO the refereeing played a huge part in that outcome. Yes our pack were overpowered but they were eventually gassed.
That and the torrent of penalties & six agains.

And the moment that the ref decided he needed to even things up a little ( at 16-0 and looking like it was going to be 50-0) was when that game changed.

For whatever reason ( the crowd maybe ) he seemed to get totally sucked in by the emotion , and the more he was sucked in the more frustrated our boys got and the worse our discipline became , the more penalties / send offs occurred.

We wont mention all our
Bombed tries
Miss tackles
Dropped balls
wrong options
We will just whinge and make excuses

C’mon Bozo, you’ve gotta admit there was a hefty amount of officiating influence on that game - rightly or wrongly. Having 12 players for that amount of time is a massive impost, not just for the 30 mins they’re off, but for the whole game, due to the added fatigue. So whether you think we were shafted by bad decisions or not (I think there were both good and bad refereeing decisions that cost us) it did make a MASSIVE difference to that game. BUT, the really good teams would overcome that, and in fairness, but for a couple of dropped balls in the end, we almost did overcome it. Had we done that, I think that would have been an extraordinary effort. But we didn’t and now we’re in the situation we’re in. Let’s see how they respond on Friday.

Agree , mostly caused by fatigue from hardly having any possesion for 30 minutes in the first half and 20 in the second.

We were terrible , but there were reasons for that.

Like him or dislike him, one thing is certain: all the great coaches keep things simple.

He clearly has an astute strategic mind for the game. But you can't out-think an opposition who want it more, and is willing to fight tooth and nail for their teammates and coach. Until he toughens up the mentality of his players, all his efforts will be in vain.

I feel for him, as this group just doesn't have the killer instinct required. DCE's confidence is shot, Jake is exhausted, and Croker is stifling the whole pack, who only seem to breath fire in front of a packed Brookie. To say Seibold has his work cut our for him, is a huge understatement.

The question is, do we extend his contract or wait to see if there is more improvement in 2025? A lot on here seem worried that DCE's impending retirement will dash any premiership hopes. I disagree. It is only then I believe, when Manly can install a new leadership group and culture.

I'm probably more a Seibold fan than most and I like the style of footy Manly play, some great entertaining footy and tries from deep in our own half.
The ONLY things I question from my lounge with bourbon in hand -

* I think it can become predictable to continually use your best weapon, shifting from left to right to expose our quicks out wide....and we need to kick down the front door throught middle more, which in turn will only open up more space out wide.
* I know Croker is a tough player and rugged defender, but how it's not obvious the Manly attack is FAR slicker with his service at 9 is beyond me.....maybe add Croker at 13 and put Jake to prop, he was a junior rep 5/8, which is similar to a locks role in the modern game.
* Defensively Manly has improved imo, but our line speed is poor compared to the best sides which relates to the second part of this issue, the frustration seeing the opposition attacker off the ground playing the ball and setting the mark, as we struggle to get off the ground, which has us shot up the middle and creates confusion for our edges to make pressure decisions or simply miss the targets.

Thank you for your reply
Ball control is also a possession factor and all the errors in our game the dropped balls and bombed tries and all the wrong options we took also made it harder on our selves
We also lacked Tenacity and resolute composure which is vital in out final games ahead against much more superior opposition than the last placed wooden spooners . If we managed our game better we would have given our selves the opportunity to win the game but we failed to do that
In a game that mattered to our top 4 quest ,We were far from terrific .
We can both agree that we were terrible
The Good news is that our Finals Adventure is far from over . We have the opportunity to Rise like Great Eagles again and become the Terrific team that we are capable of

I agree 100% on the DCE point. I think the club cannot move forward until he is gone, along with Jake and Seibold. Only then can a proper rebuild commence. The current "rebuild" has as its end game finishing around the edge of the top 8.

Have you seen the club, players or coach whinge and or blame the ref?

No - in fact some supporters here get angry at our coach for not getting angry in the pressers.

As supporters we are entitled to observe the failings in the game, paid pundits see the same we have all seen and made comment on it

You're consistently aligning a supporters forum and their observations about failings in the refereeing stocks with the side being wingers. They are not connected - in fact I believe our coach has instilled a resoluteness that had been previously lacking. Look at the press conference after the game and tell me where they were whinging

Supporters can whinge - that's what we do, it's not weak it is simply recognising faults in our game....refer media pundits seeing what we see

You be strong and meme all you want buddy - it has no impact on our team

Bellamy v Cows tonight: anyone that pulls on a Storm jersey is expected to do the job.

Seibs v Souths with our Origin stars out: we get a free swing of the bat tonight.

Spot the difference...
And that shows why the storm are winning titles and we are just fighting for a top 8 spot

Expectations are much higher at storm
