I can't believe he didn't fire a few shots at the officiating.
Yes blowing up doesn't get the points back and yes we need to address our own shortcomings no doubt. It was a terrible performance by us not just the ref..... OK I get it.

BUT I can't help but think a coach with a bit of spine and a bit of winning mentality would have pointed out that we were on the wrong end of some extremely one sided decision making tonight. To keep the referees and the players accountable. But entirely consistent with the "meh" attitude we show at various points of every game and the general vibe you get from the bloke.

I think he can coach but I really wonder if he's a bit too passive to ever win anything. It's a hard game for hard people, and we lack ruthlessness, especially away from Brookie, and that lack of backbone seems to pervade from the top of the club right down to the coaching staff and onto the field far too often.

Seibold never seems to want to upset anyone - interesting that our best ever coaches like Bozo and Des are prickly, abrasive and combative and would argue over anything motivator coaches. What we've got currently is Ned Flanders.... Just turn that frown upside down, you're doing super, credit to our opponents lets get em next time.

Leave me out.

The track we were on last night at Leichhardt was one I'll happily get off. I'm one generation removed from die hard born and bred scousers so I had no choice with Liverpool. Don't mind the Hammers though. Thank god the EPL can distract us this weekend after that Thursday night shemozzle.

I'm at a loss to understand those defending Seibold. We have one of the best Spines in the game (Excluding No 9) and a forward pack with SOO Captain Jake, Ola, Paseka et al and a backline packed with speed to burn and somehow, it's not the coaching. Give me a break, he can't get them to consistently play for him or themselves.

I called it about Barrett when he announced his first team for the 2016 season against the Bulldogs, who promptly flogged us. This will only end badly, and I just hope the Management team is working on a replacement plan B now. Perhaps we should have Matt Ballin as an assistant ASAP, so he is ready to step up at a moment's notice. At least he is a Manly man who knows what it takes to WIN!!!.

As if the coach was to blame for last night , you negative nancies are deluded.

The players fell apart under the intense & constant pressure gifted to them by a referee wanting to “ even up the game “
and very much “ appease the home crowd “, that performance was laughable in essence ge just gifted them the game.

We should have been better and overcome this biased ref, our discipline was poor in the first half & fell apart in the second , which is NOTHING to do with the coach & EVERYTHING to do with the players.

The coach has made huge improvements this year , the most we have been beaten by is 14, nothing like 2023.

Our attack has improved , and our defence is improving ( but far from perfect ), he’s going fine , just ask a few who should know ( past players for example ).

Seidud…..give me a break.

I think the test of where the team is and as well as the coaching is where we finish at the end of the year. Our response next week will be an indication of this…. Let’s see what happens.
Whilst we have made improvements from last season so have most other teams.

When you Google “ the worst nrl coach of all time” the first name that appears is Anthony Seibold. Given that google is one of the most prominent shapers to today’s human mind it must be true …😂. I personally think we could do a lot worse but subjectively for some reason other than facts I don’t like him. I think he is fake and somewhat untrustworthy. But really hoping to be wrong. In all seriousness based on facts Trent Barrett is by far the worst coach of all time and definitely the most hyped by his mates.

My comments aren't about last night's game. We are not improving much, and we are light years away from the top 4 teams, when our roster demands a top 4 finish. When a coach has the cattle and they don't perform, it's on the coach.

So who is the reason for our wins?

I may be out of the loop so I'm not aware of Ballin's current coaching achievements. Last I saw he was an assistant at the Bronco's and they haven't been setting the world on fire. I'm certainly not here to sing Seibold's praises but before last night we'd won 6 of our last 8 games. Last night's game was a bitter pill to swallow but upsets happen all the time.
Mind you, if we lose these last 2 games and bow out of finals contention I'm sure I won't be feeling that forgiving.

Flanagan is receiving plenty of praise for developing steel into Illawarra (despite the fact they have been flogged several times).
He was our assistant coach last year and didn't improve things.
Perhaps we give too much credit/grief to coaches.

Totally agree apart from one thing. The ref had no plans to even things up, he only wanted to ref us right out of the game. He was the only winner last night because rugby league most definitely was not

Exactly , it’s laughable.

As to being a top 4 contender, in my humble opinion we aren’t “ light years “ away from that , we just need a couple more cogs for the wheel to be super competitive.

We’ve gone through the year as a 5-8 team , never really looking like a top 4 contender.

But that’s a HUGE improvement.

Who knows , a couple of more good hard working forwards and we could be there in 2025.

See I don’t believe we are light years away , I think we are a couple of hard working forwards away.

It’s clear that our attack is brilliant , but only when the forwards are dominant.

And our defence needs shoring up, not badly rather , more consistent.

Depending on who comes in for 2025 I’d expect us to be top 4 contenders next year.

Yeah, Cleary, Bellamy, Bennett etc aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Give me a beak.
