Great post mate. It's a footy forum after all, and I'm sure Mr Siebold couldn't care less about a few supporters calling him Spoony. I too would love Sir Anthony to stick it up every South's, Brisbane and Manly fan who has the audacity to question whether sacking Demonic Desmond and appointing Tony Terrific was a good idea. He may well surprise, it would be amazing if he does.

After his effort at McDonalds, I reckon Sleepy Seibold has a nice ring to it..give that man a Forty Winks Sponsor!

Yep, the signing of Johns in hindsight was an error although he did play well during the preseason so maybe he fooled plenty of us. Signing Arthur showed he at least realised the error which is a positive sign.

Interesting the big focus in the preseason on togetherness or connection (I forget the actual buzzword they all used) but it wasn't long before some of the close-knit squad were moving on or being moved on.

We are starting to see Seibold's vision for the side going forward. So a strong performance this afternoon will bode well, but a messy loss will have the alarm bells ringing a bit louder for sure.

Well you're a different man to me and historically Seibold doesn't have a spoon to his name, he left well before seasons end and the reins were taken over by Peter Gentle. Also on the point of him leaving it's a well known fact that he was white anted by those grubs from past Broncos teams that were pushing for their mate Walters, those bastards did terrible things to Seibold including posting sh1t on social media about his family etc, if it were in the normal workplace he could have easily sued the Broncos for a fortune, in fact he probably should have, I've represented a number of people that have faced such bullying and had success, it's a wonder the man lasted as long as he did. Anyway like I've said in the past I'm not suggesting that Seibold is a panacea for all our woes but I do believe he deserves a fair go and especially after the social media campaign run against him in Brisbane, I believe he would be an occasional visitor to this forum and some of the crap that gets put on here is putrid and unnecessary particularly given we are supposed to be a Manly supporter forum. Anyway I've had a gutful of writing on this particular subject, it's disappointing that I have to consistently read the same ill-informed rubbish, regardless of whether it's the coach or a player whilst ever they're wearing maroon and white they will have my support, GO MANLY

Only about one in every 30 coaches ever wins a premiership ...

Predicting that a coach won't succeed is the equivalent brilliant prediction of forecasting that the sun will rise in the East.

Some of the numbnuts would impress me more if they would predict which coach WILL win a premiership ...

Ricky to his credit has won a ring, but he's had a very dry spell so I can understand that sentiment. Both Robinson and Sheens, on the whole have been good coaches, imo. Sheens has been out of coaching for a while, but I think he's been ok. Same as Robinson.

How so. Until he wins a ring, my assessment of him is unchanged. How long do you want to give him before assessing he is a good coach.He's in his 5th year. Results so far, prove otherwise. It's just my opinion. If you don't agree , then thats ok.

Mate, the clubs taken some pretty big steps to give him the team he wants next season. We have to at least give him until end 2024 before we think about re-assessing.

Think about it like this. In the past 6-7 years, we've had Michael Monaghan, Chad Randall, John Cartwright, Trent Barrett, Des Hasler, Shane Flannagan, Geoff Toovey, Anthony Siebold, Jim Dymock, Steven Hales etc etc etc (take your pick - all different types, flavours, experiences, cultures, strategies), and none of them have consistently aided us in being successful.

So where do you draw the line here? Can't keep sacking them.

It's the playing roster / the culture here. And that's being changed. Therefore, you have to stick with what you have in coaching now for a while, give the reins to them, and let them steer the ship.

Exactly, just the same as players.

I've always said that you can't really judge until their contract is up, plus we all have differing views on what a successful season/term/contract is.
I remember some mates bagging Kite after a less than stellar first season at Manly (2005) and we know how that turned out.
Just one example, l know but...

Coach's are a bit different as they generally inherit a squad of players that they didn't assemble so it's how they mould the squad and regenerate it that is the issue.

Ciraldo had the biggest wraps on him and a head start on recruitment with pretty much an open chequebook, are the Dogs any better than last year?
Arguably no, but he's got four more years to see if his coaching philosophy works.

At least Seibold has gone to market, something that most lamented with Des.

Time will tell.

That's a fair assessment. Im not a big fan of his coaching, but yeah I think a longer window makes sense in that respect. I hope Im wrong.

His numbers when compared to a lot of other current NRL coaches are pretty similar. In fact, when comparing his numbers (win/loss %) to Kevin Walter's numbers, they are almost exactly the same. His numbers would suggest that he is an average NRL coach, but certainly no worse than a lot of his peers. Personally, I think out of all of the other similar NRL coaches (excluding Bellamy, Cleary, Robinson, Bennett etc), Seibold has the greatest upside. He is currently shaping the Manly side for 2024/2025. Let's see how he goes next season (I see him improving his win/loss percentage with us to around the 60% range next year). Go Manly.
