Short term the ones of concern are King, both Stewarts (injury moreso for Snake than age) and Killer. I think we can get 2-3 years out of everyone else, with Matai and Choc being 50-50 in that department.
So that should be a reasonable time frame for succession planning. We've got 2 young halves and some good young forwards coming through. Hopefully fullback is covered by Morrisey or Tom T if we can get a couple more out of Snake.
Where we might be short is in the centres, I don't hear much about young centres coming through. We let Gagan go this year. Maybe Horhay might be a possibility there long term, he has the similar style to Stevie and can break the line. Would need work on defence though. We might have to recruit in that department. Wingers are a dime a dozen these days, so easy to cover that.
There are good centers and wingers coming through, but Manly would rather buy old players than look after their Juniors and put anyone out on the wing instead of a Specialised Winger and you wonder why their juniors don't hang around and go to other clubs.
Which " great" young player that we did not look after leave us ?
Whether their great or not they are talented Juniors who have gone to other clubs who have started with manly from Harold Matts right through, these are the ones I can think of at the top of my head ... Will Hopoate, Michael Oldfield, Luke Vescio, Darcy Lussick, Joey Lussick ( halfback ), Josh Drinkwater, Blake Harrison, Daniel Harrison, Sam Short ( Halfback )
