The Actual 18th Team: Perth Bears

Mate, I'm 73 years old .... and I have been hearing that complete bulldust about not enough players for 73 of those years ... and yet every year at least 30 new players debut ... and at least 10 of those are tagged future super stars of the game,
You're right Woodsie, but they all want to go to the farking Roosters

Good memory if 6 month old woodsie remembers hearing that as opposed to sitting there dribbling and pooping yourself.

Though at 73 I'm guessing that's also what happens now!

The Perth Bears having 1 home game at North Sydney Oval every year will most likely be locked in to be against Manly. This would effectively mean that we would never need to travel to Perth. Not a bad result. I would imagine we'd get a pretty good fan turn out too. Looking forward to the old rivalry making a come back

The Australian Rugby League Commission has announced the appointment of Anthony De Ceglie as the CEO of the Perth Bears.

The highly experienced and credentialled De Ceglie, who until recently was Director of News and Current Affairs at Seven West Media, brings a wealth of executive leadership experience and a history of business innovation. Mr De Ceglie was previously the Editor-In-Chief of the West Australian newspaper.

Looks like a strategic appointment in the WA media war ...

They are a different breed over there.
Worse than our "insular on the peninsula" feel

It's true that WA deserve their own team and one that's not affiliated with a relic of the past.
I would be happy to help try to split the supporter base of this new WA NRL franchise into factions to create a division between their Perth based supporters & North Sydney Bears supporters. North Sydney supporters too big for their boots already.
Ideas welcome.
