Baring any injury, and assuming Lussick is fit, Barrett will really only have to make 2 decisions ...... but both of them dandies. He can, but I don't see him changing the 2nd row.

Decision one. (a) Go with 4 props and 2 utilities (or) (b) 5 props and one utility.

That decision made, if he goes with (a) which prop goes to reggies, Lussick to get some match fitness, AFB because of the 4 he has the least game time/workrate?

If he goes with (b) which utility goes?

imo @Woodsie .

I'd hate for Barrett tamper with the run on side so for me it comes down to Brown or Hastings.
In the long run I think Hastings has the most potential but I'm betting Barrett will stick with the safe play and keep Brown on the bench.

Barrett is old school and I can't see him doing anything but sticking solid to the boys that have done the job for him for the past 3 weeks. So for me it will be either Lussick or Hastings that miss out.

As much as it seems unbelievable Lussick may be told to get some match fitness in reggies....remember he hasn't played since about round 20 last year.

Exactly , Hastings out, Lussick in, regardless of what we numpties think of Brown.

Teams bigger than the individual and club bigger than team and everyone is accountable to know thier role

People asked what was said in the team talk - well that's what was said

Trent will stick with the formula that he has created to make these guys believe and that's playing together as one and relying on each other

I also heard that beaver spoke and Plod spoke of the culture and attributes of a winning team while jake showed while he will be a passionate manly great

When someone gets in strife it's up to the team to help out

Darcy will get his chance at some time this year but has to be match fit to be able to fit in and help out the team in the best possible way

Ditto Hastings and co

We will need more than 17 players this year who all understand that there will be times on the bench or a game in reggies required for us to succeed.

My opinion now only but I think most players know we could be on the edge of new era of something big and as I said to Trent " it's gonna take us a year to knock the steelers out of you "

2018 is looking mighty fine to me, one or two extra experienced players and we would then have the thing we are still lacking now , depth.

As to next week, the more I think about the more I think Lussick will be down in Reggies to build match fitness.

To be fair, he did make that half break that got us to the Roosters line before Walker scored.
Yes he did but its about time he did something constructive!

I agree Lussick will need match fitness and no point tinkering with a winning formula, though I'd much prefer Hastings to Brown.

Hate to throw a spanner in the works but saw Siro in the victory song with iced up shoulders/chest...could be problematic :wondering:

If it does end up as option (b) i would prefer to keep hastings and drop brown, however i think it is really important to still have a player on the bench that can cover the back row as well. So with that being said i am tipping that brown will be the one to keep his spot, unless baz sees one of our props (possibly lussick) as a safe enough edge defender to also be able to relieve one of our back rowers if they need to come off at any stage in the game.

All the options are good compared to last year.

However, the thing with our 2nd rowers this year is not simply their individual tackling ability but the defensive structure we are playing relies on them to link the outside defenders to the middle. Whether this is just counting off to align numbers or whether to jam in or slide, it will more often than not start with them. You can bet your sweet bibby that Bainbridge and Lanky Lane (and any other 2nd rower) has been drilled in the patterns at training. Just dropping a prop in there will not be a disaster but will compromise things.

In attack Baz is using our solid wingers to shoulder at least 50% of the hit up load usually carried by the 2nd rowers ... this is no coincidence and allows the back rowers to keep some gas in the tank.

Im not sure bro..Darcy was Origin level pre injury..id be happy with him having a hit out 15-20 mins each half minus either Brown or Hastings.. think its a tad disrespecful for our #1 prop to bustle at Blacktown

Only the one game I feel, match fitness at a lower impact level to start off.

But I'd be happy with him going straight back in as well.
