Tallyn Da Silva

Not so sure about that Mark. Manly have just released Arthur, Tevaga is of for England, DCE is leaving and I wouldn't be surprised if one or two others leave, so the monies available suggest they could be looking for future long term players. Da Silva has apparently been offered a 3 year contract from Manly, so they are interested (though the amount hasn't been disclosed).
More than one or two to leave at the end of this year.

Our problem for years now has been the Number 9. Our recruitment hunts down the best on the market and many here are up in arms.

What is wrong with you people? Finally the club notices a problem and is proactive in fixing it.

And as for the money, how much were we paying the Fainu boys when they were years from NRL?

I'd argue our middle forwards are a bigger problem for us than 9 at the moment, without decent middles our 9 is fairly irrelevant.

I'd also argue that TDS is not the best on the market, and definitely not worth anywhere near 600k

I would be getting Reed Mahoney which is proven and can do the job we need a number 9 to do.
For the Dogs to get rid of Mahoney, there’s obviously something wrong with him. He wants to stay and is being told to look around. Either his personality is grinding on the team or they’ve identified his lack of enterprise and tendency to move sideways from the ruck as a concern. If Gus thought he was important, you can bet the house he’d be staying.

Pretty sure you'd be able to name the spine of most premiership winning teams. The middle forwards? Not so much.

The good coaches get the spine right first, then follow with the rest.

I think it's fair to assume Yeo, Fisher-Harris, and Leota, who are all internationals, are bigger names and were on considerably more than Mitch Kenney, who is just a no-frills workman 9 during the last 4 premiership wins.

It's all about money.. his on really big $$$ and rachet clause to go higher.. they paid a bomb to get him out of the Eels when they were a basket case and now they have signed Galvin and a few of their other players are up for upgrades due to their success.
They also have a young kid coming through so Mahoney is now surplus.

Is 400k-600k for this kid really big overs? With two new teams coming in, and if he’s as good as being touted and could be our 9 for the next 3-4yrs, I’m ok with spending that. 9 is top 3 most important positions on the field. We do need a middle or two tho as well. Anyway we should know later today if we landed him.

I would play he happy if we got him for 500k. As it stands we have Brooks and Fogarty on around 600k each. Hoppa wouldn’t be breaking the bank at this stage either. Our spine is now very efficient cap wise for once.

Exactly! And that's how we make money for some good middle forwards.

There’s no such thing as money when you’re Gus, and Mahoney was told he could look around at the end of last year, before Galvin was a factor. If it was money and they were happy with him, they’d move other players on before a member of their spine. Especially when you consider they’ve got a guy like Connor Tracey playing fullback, who is cheap for such a sought after position.

I reckon there is more to it.

Looks promising but 600 k for some still unrealized potential seems quite a bit off the mark .
T D S definitely has some good nip and a smooth passing game , not to sure that i have seen much confirmation that his defence is rated on the better level yet
But a Junior S O O rep apparently so that should count for something
And still have Froggy and Simpkin on the books for next season so not sure how that is going to be reconciled with at this stage .
Would be more then a useful signing but also has to be on the realistic side contract value wise
