Storm Vs Manly [Round 11, 2018] Team lists & Pre-Game Discussion

Unless there is information we don't have .... I would say he is a certainty ....

He is a veteran of 160 NRL games and 6 SOO ... he is not a rookie .. he knows his way around a footy field, and we don't do anything different to any other team .... it's not space surgery .....
:snooze: Wake me up when the game starts all will be revealed.

I definitely saw major improvements between when we lost to the Knights and the following week when Walker went to six against the Roosters. Walker had his best game and we were very unlucky not to win that match. Then we backed that up with the best win all year against the Donkeys in Brisbane. Again Walker was at six where he’s been running the ball more than in any of his other games. Basically, the side have been playing the game they trained all off season to play, but they were doing it much better. So, on that basis, I am not expecting complacency, but rather, a continuation of the obvious improvement we have all seen in the past fortnight. I’m not saying Hodkinson should not come into the side, because he does have the game to take pressure off DCE, and in doing so, bring about change to our gameplay. What concerns me, is that Hodkinson has only had two training sessions, and regardless of how good a player is or isn’t, sometimes combinations take time to work. Just look at Cronk and Keary. If Barrett wasn’t at least considering this very thing, then he would have just named Hodko in the six and be done with it. But he hasn’t had he... Hodko is named on the bench and maybe he wants to ease him into the game until he’s had a few more training sessions...guess all will be revealed tomorrow.
Well we agree Hodko gets a run in the second half.
What do you think the reshuffled backline will look like to accomodate Walker ?
Kelly to replace M Wright on right wing to accomodate Walker left centre ?
No doubt it's all figured out,but how does this look:
Left :
Uate
Walker
Hodko
Right:
Kelly
Suli
Dce

History has proven that when Manly is good enough we have beaten teams and the refs as well . I am not concerned about Parenaras errors , I am only concerned about ours .
I hope you're right, BOZO, but Perenara is my least favourite referee of the current crop. It always terrifies me when he's in charge.

Last time Manly played in Melbourne the stadium staff were fcking hopeless it felt like everyone was going through one gate

Not sure if I will go third week in a row of 70+ hours and another next week, feel I would be much happier watching in my recliner

Manly vs Storm is by far my most anticipated match every year, expecting a win although would've peefered to face a full strength Storm side, to which I still would be confident that we'd defeat. That win last week was very important and will kick start our season.

Hodkinson should prove a great buy, although there's no pressure for him to be a world beater, and there's certainly not a great heap of pressure for him to perform brilliantly tomorrow with him likely to take a few weeks to get into our structures. Still excited to see how he goes.

I love the stadium and the ease of getting there though. Envious.

ONE sign of a champion sportsman is bouncing right back after a setback — and that is just what Sea Eagles fullback Tom “Turbo” Trbojevic did in last week’s game against the Broncos.

He found himself under the spotlight after the previous week’s loss to the Roosters and responded in the best way possible.

“I was just really happy for Tom,” Manly coach Trent Barrett said.

“He had a couple of errors early again but Tom probably last year wouldn’t have come out of it.

“I think he is learning to flush the errors.”

Barrett said while Trbojevic still had some areas to tidy up in his game he made some real ground with his development against the Broncos.

“That could have gone either way and if he wasn’t a strong person he wouldn’t have put the game on that he did in the second half,” Barrett said.

110% correct.

2 weeks ago Chicken Little was reigning supreme and we had no answer to our conundrum.

Giving a young guy a run and moving Walks into 5/8 changed all that.

Yes I know Scam is out, but in which lifetime 3 weeks ago would any of us be typing “ I think we can win this one”.

Well I’m going to do it,

I actually DO think it’s possible we could win it.

Not a guaranteed win by any stretch but if the commitment from the last two weeks is still there I’m “ confident “.

OK, who are you and what have you done with Mark?

Underestimate Brandon Smith at your peril. But do think we can win if they use same power no frills game as second half against Bronco AND they start with Hodkinson.

Why people are fine with Walker playing 5/8 after two weeks in the role yet worried about a professional half playing in his lifetime position is beyond me.And the right game plan ain’t hard to implement anyway.

Play them tight using our powerhouse props we win by 8. Play the usual hope and prayer stuff they flog us. Give that filthy fox and Vunivalu ball in broken play from errors and they will eat us.

Any team with Munster, Chambers ,Fox and Vuna, Slater, Kaufusi etc at home will never be easy but play disciplined we win I reckon.

Exactly my thoughts, power game up the middle and we could win it, maybe!!

Or rocket surgery

Anyone going to the game ? Is the Elephant and Wheelbarrow pub the place to go before the kickoff ? It's typical cloudy and cold here today- don't expect Bris Vegas type weather . More like top of Everest come 7.30pm.
Yes as a local i do appreciate seeing the maroon and white around town. No Reches anywhere but not to worry.

Hope to catch a few of you later on and at the game.

By the way that tram stop corner Exhibition st and Flinders is gone i think so you got to go back a bit west down Flinders to get the tram down the hill

Go Manly

I must say that the boys did look exceptionally fresh last week.

It seems that they are just entering a purple patch in regards to their stamina/energy/fitness.

I would say that the cooler weather is also helping their cause, especially for our bigger units.
