Storm Vs Manly [Round 11, 2018] Team lists & Pre-Game Discussion

Fox Sports experts have all tipped against us. Obviously Smith is telling Yvonne and her colleagues something that us ST experts don't know.

I’m almost as excited at the prospect of what our final line up will be as I am about the game itself. Will Jorge come in as a late inclusion? And who drops out of the side if he does? Will Barrett throw Hodko into the side or keep the same line up that has performed so well in the last two games and ease him in off the bench? Some big calls for Trent to make, season defining decisions... if he gets it right and we come away with the win everything is great, but if he was to change the side and bring Hodko in after two training sessions and it doesn’t quite work, questions will be asked about why he went and changed a side that had run into good form. Walker has been very good the last couple of games in the six and I’ve been surprised by the lack of recognition of this fact on here (perhaps it’s been lost amongst all the Hodko/Blake Green stuff that’s been dominating discussions) Getting good early ball has really heled his running game and the try he laid on for Thompson last week was first class. After watching the last two games again, it’s also clearly evident that Suli has had a huge impact on our attack. Every time he gets the ball he makes ten plus metres and has the defence back peddling in two minds, which leads to a quick play the ball. And his last ditch defence on our line has also been top notch. There’s no way I’d be dropping him to reserve grade if it was my neck on the line. If Jorge is a late inclusion, this is the side I’d run with.

Good stuff... I get much more nervous when we are overwhelming favourites. We have so much more power in our side, and we should smash them through the middle without Scam. Haven’t looked forward to a game this much since the first time we played the Hasler coached Dogs.

Flying under the radar as Des would say. I am a little nervous though. Whenever we expect to just turn up and win, we end up losing emphatically. Let's hope the team are switched on this time around. If Brisbane was really a turning point then I expect them to be on their toes for the rest of the season.

I doubt the side would be thinking they can just turn up to Melbourne and come away with a win. Let’s hope that they arrive down south with the same attitude and determination that was on display up in Vegas last weekend.

What, no Kelly Kev. I watched the Brisbane match closely on a few occasions. Kelly was far more effective than Suli. Suli had a good game but Kelly put in some plays few others could have played. No way I would drop Kelly or have you just made the mistake of puting Walker down twice.

Definitely would have Kelly there mate... I’ve named Walker at centre and 5/8. So, to clarify... Kelly at 4 and Walker at six. Kelly has been brilliant this year, really starting to develop into the classy player people believed he would end u being, and his defence has been much improved as well.

Holy holy holy holy holy ****ing maloly!!!!!!
My parallel universes have just collided and I now realise our game clashes exactly with the Royal Wedding.
We usually go to the Melbourne game but this year (long story).
Not sure that I have the negotiating skills to win this one.
Eek!

I just can’t agree with Walker at 6 unless you only mean for this one game whilst Trent gets used to the plays/structure. Walker has played well as a runner not a half- he has still played like another centre, that won’t get us far long term.

Trent straight to the halves for me which strengthens the 6, allows cherry to play his natural game which strengthens our 7, and allows Walker to play in his best spot with good ball from two proper halves - which strengthens our centre position.

One addition strengthens three spots in my view.

Bellamy has named a rookie #9 for this weeks game.....

I can’t argue with any of that, provided everything pans out exactly as you have stated. But as of right now, we have a side that has been playing very well the past fortnight. So, do you disrupt that momentum and chemistry for a guy who has had two training sessions this week, and hasn’t played a first grade game for almost a month. The game plan over the past fortnight has been built around a power running game ( which was also pretty much the same when Croker was in the side... Dylan is just doing it much better) I’m just saying, there’s no way I would change that this weekend. Let Hodkinson come off the bench... it should be apparent early on whether or not things are going well. If DCE is getting stifled and Walker is struggling then change it up. IMO the boys have played their best football in the last two weeks so why not run with it again?

Walkz will play 1st half and if we put early points on the board going into the second half I doubt TB will bring Hodko on.
