When a star is signing a contract it must be done with a brand new, unblemished mont blanc pen, dipped in the finest black ink. These pens cost around $500 each. Now, if we are signing a reggie for $55k then all we need is a bic pen or a pack of 10 for $2 from a discount store.

From a marketing / atmosphere building perspective. I'd love to see the club announce any re-signings first at the game on Monday night. Imagine the boost you'd give in the crowd to announce pre-game that xxx, xxx and xxx have just confirmed new deals.

I know it'd never ever happen in this day and age, but would be pretty eventful and a great way to earn positive press / paper inches / tv coverage, if the players to actually sign the contract on the field pre-game. Just for something different anyway.

first home game and all. what a morale boost it would give the crowd to hear such news confirmed. then get into the game with some extra venom.
