State of Origin Game III (2017)

Ok, let's think this out logistically. NSW has seven million people and QLd has 4.5 million people. How has QLD dominated in origin 10 out of eleven series.
Well we have seen the NRL's strategy. Sydney has a large number of teams which saturates the market, Broncos managed to destroy the only competition, the crushers.
Channel nine now see's Qld as the dominant market due to the lack of competition. It's all about the company's that pay. Unfortunately Sportsmanship and fairness does no longer count in this corrupt NRL.

Will agree to disagree as I think that team would get lapped.
I forgot Mansour, had to change that. Possibly they would get lapped, maybe likely. However it's time Try something else. Turbo at fullback with Mansour and Hayn on the wings imo is an improvement (Hayne at centre is and always will be a stupid choice, he's much more comfortable on the wing.) Latrell Mitchell has been killing it in the centres and next year will have another 12 months experience. He will develop into some player imo and Walker is self explanatory. I have always had a feeling that Austin's size and running game is tailor made for Origin. The most successful NSW teams had strong big running five eights (Timmins, Fittler, Barrett, Daley the list goes on and on. He might not be having the best season, but look at last year, he can play. Cleary has an awesome kicking game and obvious potential. Vaughn has been powerful all year, should have been picked this series. Klemmer has been great. API's defends at least as good as Peats and offers much more in attack. Cordner was injured tonight but has been a standout. Angus Crichton is one of the most exciting backrowers to burst onto the scene and will play Origin. Jake is Jake and the bench can be tinkered with.

Geez you get carried away with buying into Uncle NRL's fables sometimes.

Here's a tip: what it means to be a Queenslander? Generally, you're born north of NSW and east of SA and the NT, or reside within those boundaries for a chunk of time. That is all. There's nothing 'different' or 'special' about that. They're just football players, the varieties they come in have nothing whatsoever to do with geography.

Oh, and the borders mentioned above are very malleable when you're talking about Origin* selections.

*may not have any correlation with actual place of origin
I understand what you are saying and you have made some good points . The point I was trying to make is that Queensland have developed a great football culture and that is admirable .

Yeah, but what 9 in the whole competition is allowed to a) throw forward passes, b) use elbows knees and forearms in tackles, c) tell the officials how his team wants the game refereed, thanks very much, the way Scam Smith is?

That's one position where you've just gotta suck it up and accept you can't match like for like at the moment. Not til that cheating dual-contract bastard retires, at least.

Well said @yokahontas, you are spot on.

My level of dislike for the cheating piece of crap Scam, has reached another level. I can not stand the bloke and his sense of entitlement, arrogance and shear disdain for rules. He does not care about an equal playing field, he will do whatever he can to sway everything and anything his way.

I just don't understand how so many people can not see this or perhaps choose not to. He is a 100% cheating lowlife scum bag who has been allowed to get away with things that many would not, for far too long. And the NRL and media glorify him. And that is just so wrong, on so many levels......!

Even money says I will get QLD half before DCE and I played for Harbord Devils!

Just a bit of trivia...

Despite being only 16 or 17 years old, my father was one of the major instigators in the creation of the Harbord United club as a breakaway from the Freshie surf club. The surf club had an associated football club but many of the younger surf club players resented the fact that the lower grades were virtually ignored by the club management, and, as such, they moved “en masse” to the Harbord United Club on its creation in 1950. The new club won the premiership in both grades it fielded in its initial year.

Andrew Johns ....
“I look at the teams on paper before and I think NSW, on paper, had a much stronger team. I thought they had a much stronger forward pack. But the game isn’t played on paper."
“I feel sick at the moment. It’s just so hard to watch,” Johns said.
“You’ve got to applaud Queensland, but I still don’t think NSW get it."

Comment of the night has to go to the DT's Alex Blair for the player ratings.....

8. AARON WOODS
Ran the ball well all night with 75 metres but failed to make any serious impact. Was strong in defence with 22 tackles from the front row. 5.5

75 metres and ran the ball well? Ran. The. Ball. Well.

And another classic.....lol

11. BOYD CORDNER
Ran strong metres (139) but dropped the ball in a damning knock-on as NSW frantically tried to resurrect the match in the second half. Looked to mistime a number of his runs throughout the match. He also let debutant Cameron Munster through to set up Valentine Holmes on the wing. Limited training prep due to a calf injury appeared to cost the skipper big time. 5.5

Now correct me if I am wrong but wasn't it Pearce who missed the tackle on Munster?

FMD there are some good drugs floating around the News Ltd. offices.

Ahhhh it's over.

Well done Qld and lol@nsw.

I'm glad my remote has a button on it that skips forward 30 seconds at a time as it makes rubbish a lot quicker to scan through. (I think 10 mins is all I watched of the second half.)

As us 'spectators' all laughed and went 'where's your loyalty Qld? what happened to pick and stick?' when Qld made a raft of changes after game one, they just quietly let us all carry on and thought "We're here to win a series."

Andrew Johns was right after game two. No one ran at a busted Jonathon Thurston??? Stupid stupid stupid.

So we move on to game three. It's a decider somehow even though in games one and two Qld have been without some major players!

Now game three: No Thurston, Boyd, Inglis, Scott, a reserve grade bench utility and an untried number 6.

Meanwhile nsw lauded the fact they named an unchanged side, yet again for the first time since 1995 or something like that.

And come game time...who looked like the better team? Qld
who played more smoothly, like they had been team mates for years? Qld

Proving once again a champion team will beat a team of..... individuals who think they are awesome game winners.. me me me me me!

Also - Injuries! nsw had Cordner and Frizell hurt in the lead up to the games. Did nsw make the hard decision to cut them both? No! In an insult to other fit players straining to get their shot, both Boyd and frizzy (esp Boyd) were given up until the last minute to get fit.

So who looked out of place, over running his half at least twice in the early part of the game? Boyd. Who made a massive 50 mins in 47 mins.... Frizell.

Qld have systems in place. Everyone knows their job and like lego, players can come in a connect immediately with their team mates.

Nsw have Hayne, who wouldn't pass to a player if he was the beginning of a ten man overlap. Ferguson who loves the one hand carry and lost the ball 3 meters out from the try line.

Qld understand when it's waste of time to milk penalties (unlike morris), and when it's stupid to try and strip the ball (unlike wade).

Andrew Johns is right. Watching Qld go about their business shows just how stupid nsw can be.

This series, more than many others in recent history, was theirs for the taking by nsw.

But, as so often happened in previous series, they have been weighed, they have been measured, and they have been found wanting.

Go Manly!
