State of Origin [Game II, 2021]

So funny listening to Joey John’s giving passive aggressive shade on DCE. What a dick questioning his defence and with Slater saying Munster holds the key.

Muster was great last year but he was on one leg today and ummm look at the scoreboard. Zero points means zero in attack and nearly all the tries were scored down his side.

I'm going to give ratings for each side, just without any long winded explanations of how they played.

Queensland:
Holmes - 2/10
Coates - 2/10
Capewell - 1/10
Gagai - 1/10
Feldt - 1/10
Munster - 2/10
Cherry-Evans - 5/10
Papalii - 3/10
McCollough - 1/10
Welch - 3/10
Arrow - 2/10
Kaufusi - 1/10
Fa'auuamaleaui - 2/10

Hunt 3/10, Fotuaika 2/10, Fifita 1/10, Molo 1/10

New South Wales:
Tedesco - 9/10
To'o - 6/10
Mitchell - 9/10
Trbojevic - 9/10
Addo-Carr - 8/10
Luai - 7/10
Cleary - 8/10
Saifiti - 8/10
Cook - 6/10
Paulo - 7/10
Murray - 6/10
Sims - 6/10
Yeo - 7/10

Wighton 1/10, Crighton 6/10, Haas 7/10, Martin 5/10

Crighton would have gotten a 7 but for that man bun.

Queensland came out full of huff and puff for first 10 minutes and after we weathered that, just too much class. No one stood up for Queensland, they let themselves get niggled and lost their cool constantly. Outplayed and they couldn't deal with it. No leadership, no cool head, no confidence in their ability, couldn't turn momentum. NSW should have scored another 3 or 4. What was final penalty and 6 again count ?? I think that is only stats that Qld won.

By the way what happened to the crackdown on high tackles ?? This is the NRL showcase game and not one penalty for a high shot despite there being at least 20 hits out there that would have attracted a penalty in the NRL. That's why fans get frustrated. Compare that game tonight to the magic round debacle and let's discuss the consistency.

Lifting the shield last year must feel like a long time ago for DCE... Should have retired from rep footy then as that was as good as it was going to get for him.
Was thinking the same thing in regards to DCE giving representative footy away, Cleary the best number 7 in the game.

DCE could well be made a scapegoat for this series loss.

I thought Sims was an 9/10. He was dominating their edges.

I don't think he will have a choice. He won't get picked for Australia unless Cleary is injured, he is so far off the pace.

As for Origin, they might give him the last game of this series but he won't be there next year. Already noise around Walker being blooded. With Ponga and Grant back they'll have a better attack and less pressure on a rookie half. Maybe that's why the teary eyed look after the game.

Apparently Munster at half time on Ch9 was blaming his team mates for not listening to him. There was one time in the first half where DCE didn't pass it to Munster and you could see Munster get the shts. He strikes me as the kind of bloke that would lead a mutiny, even though he was worse than bog average.

Yeah I see this as being DCE's last series irrespective of his form at club level next year.
