State of Origin, 2025.

Latrell is a weapon in attack but found out all series with his lazy defence unfortunately... I would pick best over him next year if he's fit

I'll give him his dues for his tackle on a runaway Hammer though. He missed him in the same spot 2 weeks ago at Suncorp on one of his 4 tries. Didn't miss him tonight thought, it would have been all but goodnight if he had missed.

Well that was shiithouse from the Blues. QLD line speed and starving the Blues of the ball by completing a near perfect 100% possession rate, especially in Origin just killed us. Dearden played the game of his life. Looked a threat everytime he’d take the line on. Munster was allowed to take his own sweet time putting up the bombs.

As I've said, I didn't think he'd bring any more to the table than DCE did other than younger, fresher legs. And for the most part that was true. He really wasn't any better than DCE might have been (especially in younger days), but as the 9 commentators have said, Dearden brought a new energy to the position and TBH, that was probably what Queensland needed. They really did look slow in Game 1 and turned that around after DCE got dropped.

DCE this year has shown that rugby league's Father Time is fast catching up to him. It was the energy, the fresher legs and a desire to prove himself in the biggest representative arena we have that was the difference and it did make Dearden better for Qld than DCE probably would have been.

On another note....now saying fvcking on TV is accepted??
Is this the 3rd time in a short period tonight you've pushed the 'for the most part it is true that Dearden didn't bring anything to the table other than fresher/younger legs', and 'wasn't much better than dce might have been in the last 2 origin games' and support that using DCE's form in his younger days.

I'm unsure of the direction you are going or what you are going out of your way to convey and achieve by reason of 3 posts pushing your line of thought, which comes across as far off the mark to me.

Only this season matters as it was this season dearden was required to replace dce. And what he brought unfortunately for dce was intent, guts, running into the line putting his body on the line and defence that dce has very rarely ever displayed, and to be fair I do recall a gutsy standout series display from DCE in his day.

But deardan brought to that team in 2025 what qld needed from their captain dce, and more.

It was a brave move by Slater, and unfortunately one that paid off. In 2 games he won man of the series.

So in regards to your reasoning that for the most part, Dearden did not add anything to this qld team other than younger/fresher legs, I can only quite simply and strongly disagree.

Yeah but origin is crap now haha should be 1 game only a year no Melbourne BS. 1 year Sydney next year Brisbane etc etc

Yes, why no pressure on their only kicker ? Our line speed was poor all night. Laurie had no real game plan. Laurie, Lui, Latrell and Lomax must all be gone next year. Their CV's filed under "never to be picked again". It's brutal, but they're just not up to the task.

If theyd picked Dearden instead of $CE in game 1 it would have been a 3-0 sweep.
Yes it’s a reverse on the usual Manly-SOO situation, where Manly players apparently (in the eyes of News Ltd in particular) cost the perennially underperforming NSW team, victory.

Luckily then that no Manly players were in the NSW team.🙂
