Deardens defence and toughness, he's everywhere.

Other than younger legs, I didn't think he'd bring anything to the Qld table that DCE didn't. But defensively he's proven very good while he's not done much wrong with the ball in hand.

I'll admit, he's been better than I expected and well done to him for it.

According to the boffins at 9, he's playing his 17th Origin tonight which equals Blocker Roach's NSW Origin Front Row record.

IMO the record would probably be held by Glenn Lazarus if not for Super League.

Heres a sobering thought for you.

Aaron Woods played more Origin than Lazzo (edit) as prop.

As the late, great Mike Raymond would have said ... that's one for Great Mysteries of the World.

Look, in his prime, Woods was a good front rower. To say otherwise is silly IMO. You don't play Test or Origin footy not being able to play at that level. But I wouldn't put him anywhere near Lazzo's level so yeah, that's a "wow" from me.
