State of Origin 2020 discussion

Wighton terrible all game. Blues forwards went missing in the 2nd half. Ridiculous that there was not a penalty at the end when QLD created a rugby ruck to stop the play the ball.

DCE was the best? Who is the best now? 😉
He rarely played this well in his 20 matches for Manly last season.
Conventional wisdom had Cleary as the best halfback in 2020... until tonight.
Why did DCE play so well? Does he value the Qld jersey more than the Manly one, or was he given better coaching/mentoring from the Thin Coach?

Helps having a settled & good halves partner! He & Munster shared the play making role & it gave DCE room to do his thing.

Congratulations to the Maroons who were the better team on the night! Their second phase play was much superior to NSW. Hopefully, we'll see a much better performance from NSW next week. Maybe Stephen Crichton needs to come into the side, plus return JAC to the left wing.

Easy to shine when you have a motivated group of professionals fired up around you. At manly he has a couple of committed first graders & a bunch of park footballers doing their best but out of their league.

Pretty simple imo. Playing in a lot better team and next to the best 5/8th in the game.
Gives DCE the time and space to perform at his best.
At Manly, DCE takes 90% of all the kicks - shared around tonight. Takes pressure off.

Obvious, he had a halves partner. Just like Cleary had all year, and he had API. DCE had Crocker, Levi, and a team full of injuries.

Halves play their best as a halves pairing. He can play like that for Manly, we just need some luck with injuries so we can keep a spine together. Have not had that for years. He is also a big game player, like his Clive Churchill medal.

Cleary has faulted at Origin and GF. But is still a gun player, he will be back no doubt.

DCE is heart and soul Manly, saying he plays harder for QLD than Manly s ridiculous. He tries his guts out every week for Manly, too hard I think at times. Just needs some play makers around him. Bennett coached him well tonight also

Never let the truth get in the way of a good agenda.
