Siosiua Taukeiaho

I've got my doubts his purpose at the club, is on field in A grade. He's had 2 years out of the game, it is a bit like getting a bloke out of retirement for mine.

Certainly everything he's had to say during the Manly way has had a big developmental flavor.

So I'm thinking he's more Woody's replacement than Big Lodge's.

Woodsy was still seen as offering something here and there when injuries hit.

But then again I can only seem to recall one game from Woodsy off the bench defending the ruck against the Titans of any particular note this season.

Disregard his English gig last season
The bloke is an 8 out of 10 front rower all day
Past his prime
But will help the Paseka types to lift and cause his own problems for the opposition in between
Best buy for a while - though I really believe Jazz Tevaga will add starch and aggression off the bench also

I'm a bit more cautious.

I think injuries had seemed to caught up with him in his last year at the Roosters and he has had 2 years in the UK with 10 odd games.

I'd love to see him come in and make an impact but I'm not expecting too much.

Fingers crossed though.

Playing only limited footy the past couple of seasons could have two factors associated with this.
His body is just not holding up too well and a bit prone to injury or the extended time off the field has allowed for a bit of general healing and sure that he would still have some good footy and performance ability if again his general fitness can be on a more positive note.
Going to need a good work rate in the middle regardless so if again he can measure up all round , all good

Too old. Too slow. Too injury prone.

Will start off well, but as the grind of the season wears on, he'll get fatigued and lose his impact as his legs get tired. (see Brown, Lodge, Woods, Myles & many, many others).

We seem to not learn.

We needed a youthful, bustling, impactful, explosive, agile, mobile forward.

We just got more of the same. 33+ year old. Heavy. Veteran yeah, but we have many of those.

Ideal if it could be a bit different and probably has already been referred to but Jake on 950K , Haumole on about 850 K or even slightly more , Tent on probably around the 600 K mark , Alioia no doubt still on good coin , doesn "t leave a lot of cap room elsewhere in the forward line up.
Just could be a chance of getting some value out of either Taukeiaho , Patolo or Chee Kam or even better collectively ., the lot of them and who would of course all be on modest contracts

The Good ...
He has experience and a pretty good attitude

The Bad ....
The Bulldogs were Desperate to land a Big Body in their small pack
and after they put S.T. through a thorough Medical check
They weren't Desperate enough to take the chance , Hence he is on a train and trial contract

The Optimistic Perspective ....
Life is a gamble and you have to be in it to win it
S.T. looks like he has the attitude and Determination to Defy all odds and roll out the Dice

Good Luck S.T.

I honestly think the only reason BK was allowed to leave Newcastle, was his one error against North Queensland that finished their season that year (2004). He was still pretty well at his peak still. He was still an Origin and Australian representative quality player.

And the side with the youngest pack in the NRL just won the spoon three times in a row.
