Silvertails Site in danger

Is it the fact that we were a bit more competitive and successful last year compared to the BT years. I find that more people tend to come on and vent after a loss than come here to celebrate after a win (too busy drinking/celebrating some place).

Personally I don’t do ‘antisocial media’ so love this place. Agree sometimes some people push the nasty envelope a bit too much and would welcome people being benched before the vitriol gets out of hand. It saddened me when people like @Ryan and @susan felt the need to take a break due to being bullied

Long live Silvertails!

Ok so.
I have absolutely zero idea about this sharing thing.
I'm on Twitter but I hit the icon and though I'm following silvertails there's nothing on there resembling any discussions pertaining to this site.
Facebook, yeah nah, I'll stick to MySpace with Ruddy...

Well for me - I love reading about what is happening and people's views but I would say as someone outside the clique that this site and the forums are very very cliquey and people like myself and others who might be new or not friends with people on here - your views or posts are generally ignored as the clique set about just responding to each other. Now I am sure I will receive smart a??? and disparaging comments for holding this view and again that is part of the reason for the decline - alternate views are ridiculed and sometimes with vitriol and so people give up and find alternate mediums to discuss Manly issues.
I’ll give you the best tip on here Shane. Stay away from the religious threads and all will be fine.

The share button down the bottom, lets YOU share the post on your twitter for others to read

@Shane4500 As Dan mentioned above I shared your views but then realised much ( most) is very tongue in cheek on here and and since then I’ve had a ball of fun.

Funnily enough I’m currently very very pissed off with social media for much the same reasons you mention in your post.

I have three interests in life ( apart from my family) , Footy, Cricket and in retirement Caravanning and my social media is linked to all three.

But ( and especially in the last two months) every part of social media has become terribly political.

I couldn’t give a **** if you voted for Pauline , ScoMo, or Albo just don’t load up my social media feed with Climate Change or your view on politics because I love Footy, Cricket and Caravans ( by the way this isn’t aimed at you it’s just a general comment).

Whereas I know coming in here it’s Footy and nothing else.

Long live Silvertails!!
lol Mark - well I am very apolitical although I sit on the left side of the spectrum and I call a spade a spade on my Facebook page no matter if it is the left or right serving up crap to us. But yes agree with you about social media in general and in my view the keyboard warriors who sit at home and be obnxious and argumentative from behind the keyboard. I have a few older Jaguars and as such I am on a few Jag sites and see it all even there where people like me who put a different "interpretation" on my Jags are totally frowned upon by the Jag aficionados and you get attacked. Sadly for them I just ignore or block them. Just all about respect really and most on social media couldn't even spell the word let alone understand what it means.

Very much appreciate all that you've done and continue to do @Dan

For the record I wouldn't know 99.9% of silvertailers on here if I fell over them. I really enjoy reading others' views on all things Manly and participating on the forum and just ignore anything I don't agree with. To lose the Silvertails site would be devastating and I'll do my best to continue supporting it.

Thank YOU @Dan.
Agreed totally with this comment

Agreed MissKate - benching or suspensions for vile comments should be considered

Hi Guys,

I apologise for the click bait, kind of.

I wanted to reach out to start a discussion on a few things here. Silvertails has seen a decline in members and page visits over the past year. Forums are starting to go out of flavour and we lose more and more people to Facebook. Whilst I understand the ease of using Facebook to have discussions, it really does not create the sense of community and good will that we have here.

Whilst I am happy to run Silvertails as long as I possibly can, it would be great to see it thrive like it used to. The way that I see this happening is using vehicles like Facebook to attract new members, there are thousands of people that love The Sea Eagles out there, and I would love to have them join our community and discuss the club that has given us all so much joy, heartache and frustrations over the year.

If you look at the bottom of this thread you will see social media icons, this is true of every thread, what these do is provide you the ability to share the post directly on those platforms, what I would ask is this:

If you see a post that is really good, that you enjoy discussing within, smash those social media share buttons and share the post with Facebook (particularly share that post inside the Facebook Supporter groups), share it with Twitter, share it wherever. Tell a friend, tell their friend. Lets work together to make this site great.

I am about to dedicate a good week or more of my time off from work to purely coding a whole lot of features, I was up until 2am last night working on them, in the background I am doing a lot of things trying to make the site great for all of us, and the small thing I ask is that you guys share posts and help drive people to the same joy we find from the site as well.

Thank you so much

Dan
I dont use social media but I'll spread the word the old fashion way

THIS!!!!!!!

I have vastly reduced my participation on this site because of the continuous belittling & name calling such as numb nuts etc etc. There is absolutely no community in that.

I'd love to help out but my family pointed out I have no friends to share anything with.

Dan, everyone appreciates what you do on this site mate!

But but but.... I too have no friends to share anything with!

We must be like.... lone wolf mates!

Anyway as Bill and Ted said: Be excellent to one another

(new Bill and Ted movie out soon!)

We are the original Manly forum and the best

I do not belong to the The imitators of fb and twitter

As has been already expressed love this site and everything you do @Dan I get my Manly fix from here and here alone.
@Shane4500 the best advice that I can give you is to come on here to comment about footy and ignore the other rubbish. Always enjoy @maxta posts. They are insightful and about footy and footy alone.

Used to be "cliquey" in the first years but never bothered me "The congo line group". (just laugh it off or don't read certain contributors, it is not that difficult)

I would say it is less cliquey now by a big margin.

My main issue is i prefer the previous website design and struggle to view the website on my iphone 6 at times with slow-downs and crashes due to the advertisements.

Since the site is free the above issues don't bother me(have no right to complain being free) other than the site doesn't feel all that secure.
