Would you welcome a shift to a social network away from pure forums

I like it the way it is: clear headings so you don't have to read everything and access all areas for everyone. I don't enjoy FB and Twitter as much as ST because of the amount of stuff I'm not interested in that I have to scroll through. And I would also hate to see it turn into a whole bunch of cliques where all are not welcome. That puts it in danger of becoming another schoolyard. You have something beautifully simple here Dan.

I'm not on Facebook or social media. I love Silvertails as it is, and like all NIMBYS my initial reaction is NO.
However, if it is super simple - and I can get my grandkids to show me how to use it - then it might be OK.

I'm on Facebook, but I rarely use it. Got onto it because it was the only way to maintain contact with two cousins I like. Of course I'm an old fart and I know many of the younger generation live their social lives through Facebook. Several of my nieces have a great chin wag on the blessed thing. But when I started contributing I found people I know going on about the most boring issues at length, such as describing one persons walk down George Street, City and describing the sights, such as the various shops, in depth, often with pictures including selfies. Yawn.

To me Facebook is a gossip site. Now I dont mind some gossip as much as the next person, but not 24/7 from dozens of people at once. Its mind eroding. I like forums because they are focused on specific issues and I dont have to look at sites I'm not interested in. Its fun but its also informative. I really wouldnt be interested in reading, Dan, about a minute by minute reflection on what you think about League matters. Keep it simple and focused I say.

For me the facebook style of system suits the new 'in one ear out the other' generation/type person. Things are posted, commented on and reacted to for a few hours then buried beneath the ocean of social media dribble that these sites are full of.
I'm from the forum user generation (1994 -2006 pre farcebook era) where things are easily laid out in headings and date order where posts can be found easily and conversation joined at any time. An easily accessible database basically.
These new sites seem to suit people who are on them 24/7 an are able to keep up with the constant posting etc. I reckon those that log every day or so and weekly will miss out on whats going on.
(Just the opinion of a late 30's nuffy who hates everything new)

Sort of related, but I used to be an avid user of IMDB - mainly to read the forums that talked about various aspects of movies etc. But someone in their wisdom decided to shut the forums down because it was thought their function was being catered for elsewhere on social media, but it is just not the same. I have become a very infrequent user of IMDB as a result.
I'm the same with BDSM for similar reasons...

I'm concerned that I may not love the new platform as much as I love the current Silvertails format.
Fear of the unknown I guess, but I do appreciate that you need to move with the times.
As with any change, some people will hate it and not come back, but you may also pick up a new demographic.

I know your type Mark (if that indeed is your real name😉)
When we going fishing? : #nextweek
When we going fishing? : #nextweek
When we going fishing? : #nextweek

Lol, I think I’m the ONLY one that actually lists my real name in my profile ( as my Twitter name).

And in sad news I’m going overseas for a month and there’ll be no #nextweek and #nofishing posted

I enjoy the format of the current forum Dan and I'm not a big fan of social media either. I do understand why you are considering a change.

For me I like what we have here just general discussion sometimes gets a little crazy on game days
I think we get true supporters here compared to social media type sites as randoms just fire off non related comments just to get attention
