Silver Lining

Just needed to hold it after the funa break or the dce run from the kickoff after that, and we would have hit 30 I reckon. Two chancy 1st tackle plays that didn’t come off. But yeah proud of the rest of that 2nd half. Tough stuff.
And then Schuster holding down the player for 45 seconds and giving them a shot at field goal. Those 3 mistakes could have been extremely costly!

I’m actually glad that we won a game with such a flat performance. Beating the Eels who were down and out with touch footy was great but it’s not championship quality stuff.

to turn up flat and play a desperate Raiders who had all the momentum and play that scrappy style that we hate, was truly memorable. I’m ecstatic after that win. We lose that game every other day of the week.

we learned to win ugly tonight..to roll the sleeves up and win off the back of desire and rugged defence...to play with patience and not try to chase points through stupid shifts...

that’s one of our best wins of the year IMO.
My God, it was like watching paint dry, oil based paint.

It's only a good performance if we learn from the game, problem is we don't.
Same pattern of lacking punch through the middle to generate go foward without Tom, or lacking Tom's number counting and speed out wide to generate consistent quality lateral play to move the defence around.

Tense again in attack lacking full on belief in the early stages and it impacts our entire go forward and lateral play, we get into a grind when the points don't come easily and start making mistakes.

Once the points arrive like they did in the second half the self belief starts to come back, defence lifts and less one out play----still not great but enough to get out of the grind and being mistake riddled.

Each to their own. All that game showed me was that we are no hope of winning this thing without Tommy. We seem clueless in attack without his presence. Happy to take the win as it keeps top 4 dream alive, but let's hope that jaw of Turbo is OK otherwise we are just making up numbers come finals time
Yeah, although I think that’s quite an easy conclusion to come to (same with probably all sides if you took out their most dominant player).

But I thought tonight showed we are a better team without him than we think they are. Raiders played the same against the storm last week and were close to winning. Weren’t too much different today yet without trbo we were able to grind them down. Had flashes of being that destructive team we know.

Now we know without trbo we can score 50+ (cowboys win) and that we can grind down desperate teams (raiders).

At the start of the year not many manly supporters would has predicted us to be on the fringe of the top four!

this team has come a long way!

just sayin’
^This.
If anyone said at the end of rd 4 that we'd be here by rd23 they'd have got out the straight jacket. It's been a phenomenal turn around and it ain't finished yet. In fact, the best part is to come.

Spot on, we needed it. Knights and first raiders game showed us struggle when backs against the wall, and nothing going our way. Fact we had such a poor performance and had some really bad calls against us and still managed to win. Very stoked and very relieving. Feels better than pumping teams like dogs, sharks etc.

Too many errors in the first half trying to play footy without Tommy, but it was very pleasing see the shift the in gameplan in the 2nd half, and grind our way to a tough win.

I haven't checked the stats, but it felt like an almost error free in the 2nd 40 as well playing a grinding style.

Well coached imo to pivot at halftime.
