Snake's Alive!
I’m actually glad that we won a game with such a flat performance. Beating the Eels who were down and out with touch footy was great but it’s not championship quality stuff.

to turn up flat and play a desperate Raiders who had all the momentum and play that scrappy style that we hate, was truly memorable. I’m ecstatic after that win. We lose that game every other day of the week.

we learned to win ugly tonight..to roll the sleeves up and win off the back of desire and rugged defence...to play with patience and not try to chase points through stupid shifts...

that’s one of our best wins of the year IMO.

We were woeful in that first half and ok in the second half but we gritted it out and that is important.

We.made it hard for ourselves with a hooker, utility, second rower and only 1 prop on the bench.

Each to their own. All that game showed me was that we are no hope of winning this thing without Tommy. We seem clueless in attack without his presence. Happy to take the win as it keeps top 4 dream alive, but let's hope that jaw of Turbo is OK otherwise we are just making up numbers come finals time

100% agree, our game is based on getting a roll on and getting the momentum going, and the referee completely negated that with an extremely skinny 10 and the slowest ruck of the year. We had to find a different way to get it done, and we did. It suited Canberra perfectly as they were just there for 1 outs and a kick, the most dour footy I’ve seen all year

I’ll give that win to Taupau, when he came back on he created that roll for us and onto the front foot and Canberra couldn’t hang with it

It was definitely a good win. A win that builds character.

They didn't need to win by 40 tonight. They just needed to win under adversity, without Turbo.

The Raiders are not a bad team. This wasn't a scrape-home win against the Bulldogs. The Raiders were stronger than when we played them 6 weeks ago, and more determined.

We overcame a significant deficit at half time - and did it the hard way, not just by catching a ride on the Turbo-train where scraps of his mastery are enough to win a game on their own (point in case - Suli beat the Eel's entire game score within what - 3mins of being on the field? All off the back of Turbo doing Turbo stuff)

Character building. Confidence instilling. We needed to win this to prove our mettle, and it was more important that the win last week, even if it wasn't as satisfying as a fan.

Just needed to hold it after the funa break or the dce run from the kickoff after that, and we would have hit 30 I reckon. Two chancy 1st tackle plays that didn’t come off. But yeah proud of the rest of that 2nd half. Tough stuff.
I thought that too after the funa break, we had 2 chances to calm the play down and we were odds on to score and put the game to bed without the hero plays. Those plays are great when the game is won (or you're desperate) but not in a tight game

It was a pretty even match up, but I think the class and experience of DCE and Foran really got us home. Canberra a good and they were hungry to get those points.
We did lack a bit of go forward in that first half.

100% agree, if that kick came off it would have been a great play. But sometimes our young team need to see the low % plays and just maintain possession to keep the pressure on. Hopefully they review things like that and learn from them.

Not implying that it was a performance that would challenge other sides but it’s great to finally win a game where momentum is with the opposition.
Also, I don’t buy into this whole ‘without Tom we can’t win it.’ Of course we can’t...we’ve won 8 premierships in 75 years...they don’t come around often enough to build towards winning one without your best player.
Any team that wins a comp, wins it when the stars align. That’s how hard they are to win. We don’t need to lose sleep about trying to win one when injuries work against us...

Turbo takes alot of attentions of other players, no one was worried about Garrick out the back tonight, you could see Chez look out wide tonight but nothing was There, it was more Oka and Suli punching holes up the edges, different styles of footy , but we got the 2 points
