Sick of the Manly seasons derailed

Meet you out the back of the school canteen, when the bell goes, unless you have to go home with mommy. Honestly just go away
I don’t need mommy to protect me…..however sounds like you do. Perhaps you could go away & not come back!

I am probably alone in this but I approve of Ola'K getting involved. I have far too often seen the Queenslanders thug out on Blues players, for advantage or sheer spite. And nothing happened. Last night everyone learned something: those days are over. If we are saying All for one and one for all, we'll it's real or it's not. And Ola'K definitely thinks it's real.

I wouldn't mind betting a few of his team mates patted him on the back in the sheds and the coach noticed that the big man was All In on this New Era Blues. I think he did right.
As for the next two games, where is @BOZO when I need him? I will do my best:

The club should definitely challenge. He was not selected and so was not a player in that game. The match review committee has no jurisdiction over what he did for that reason. He was a spectator at the time. Manly would win the challenge.
It probably comes under the banner of 'bringing the game into disrepute', which means the NRL can more easily make sure the sentence is upheld. + he also received 'Manly loading'.

Couldn't agree more mate. Two weeks is extremely light for some one, who was essentially a spectator, getting involved. The club should fine him for flow on effect his stupidity has had on the club.
Two weeks is light, but it is two weeks suspension from a different competition. Where does that happen? Anyhow, it was utterly dumb from our player and we get penalised, right or wrong.

NRL would then step in on ‘bringing the game into disrepute’ and suspend him for a month. Don’t roll that dice, it is loaded.

SOO and NRL are different
Suspend him from the next 2 games "If picked" for NSW
Even lose his match payments 100% if seen as a terrible action, but to effect club footy for himself and Cam Murray at a pivotal part of the season is unfair and dumber than their actions, by the NRL
If this kind of incident is going to effect teams for club games,,,,play it at seasons end and if an incident is deemed shocking like this 1, they lose match payment or future SOO selection....to effect Manly or ANY club is dumber than the actions of these individuals and needs to be changed

There's a fine line between putting the whistle away and officiating the game to be a spectacle. I actually thought contrary to most people's opinions that last night's game was a dud. Sure, it was brutal and close but the referee let too much go to the point that neither side really played 'football'. It was essentially a bash-a-thon. 5 hit ups and a kick for 80 minutes. It was the slowest ruck I have seen in 10 years.

It's also a big part of the Nine commentary team to hype up the quality of the game for their viewers. If one was to analyse the game objectively and forget the hyperboles from Joey Johns and Phil Gould, it was a dour game.
Can’t agree with this at all. It was intense and became a game where one try meant the whole difference. Would you prefer another 50 point game at origin level. Yuck. This was the first origin in the last 10yrs that felt origin like’

I too am frustrated by losing Haumole, but it's never been the case that you can only suspend players from NRL for things they do in NRL.

Why suspend them at all? Tallis rightly pointed out that if this had happened at a juniors game Haumole and Murray would be banned for yonks. The reason shouldn't be any mystery, it's the risk of inciting crowd violence. Uncommon presently in Australia, but does happen. Yes humanity has come a long way but you don't have to look too far to realise the impulse to uncivilised behaviours is never far from the surface.

The game's custodians hypocritically promote the punchups of Origin but don't want to be liable in the event of some disaster. I hope someone at Manly explains to Haumole, "yes we know Madge told you this and that, but guess what, it's not really going to war with your brothers, and it's not a street fight!"

We could probably win it without him and another 2 outs...the point is, every season, there's always things that make our road harder as in this case....derailed don't mean season over PK, simply tougher than it needed to be :wait:
Yep, and unfortunately Manly isn't one of those clubs that have enough depth to overcome those various impediments that pop up.
I'm not overly worried about this one though, we should still get the Titans, and would be underdogs v Chooks whether Haumole was there or not.

I'm no English teacher Disco my man, but I wasn't referring as a season ender....I simply meant the below.....

Derailed - @:smirk:
I stand by the point that Haumole out for 2 weeks shouldnt be diverting us from our intended course of finals or the long shot of top 4 or premiership.

Obviously its not ideal but every team in the comp gets injuries and suspension so you could argue every team has had their season "derailed"

Not sure about the whole DCE and JL got away with it - we could all see it was handbags

The issue was not what they did but the fact they were not playing and entered the field from the bench

I can't remember 1 clean season without incident in a while and it's damn annoying !!
Same crap as usual and Oka maybe a bit dumb getting involved, but in SOO where they are allowing high shots and scuffles which led to the heated moment, this suspension seems harsh.
If it's not Snake Stewart wrongfully outed by the NRL, it's injuries to key players, off field gang wars.....anyways is what it is and now gunna need to dig deep, as Oka is an integral part of Manly and it's the worst time to lose him leading up to finals (well hopefully if we make it now)
It's really going to test the character of the team from this week forward.
The Key words from your post feathered friend are A TEST OF CHARACTER !

Adversity and set backs are part of the game
A team that overcomes adversity and prevails is part of the inspired resilient character that a coach instils and inspires in his players

The Storm have had setbacks with key players unavailable like Munster ,Papenhausen
The Panthers have had their sets backs with their dominant superstar half back missing
But both of those teams are still Dominating and are respectably number one and number two on the Premiership Ladder

Agreed. But no one would have dreamt you could lose a player in such weird circumstances.

Good point - but I'm only worried about us Disco and I am probably coming in harder than needed on the Oka 2 week stuff, but after just getting Tom back I was thinking "This is the best poised Iv'e felt in a Manly season for some time" and then this crap happens....:whew:

Crap happens and Character Rises above Crap

Why Character Matters and its Necessity for Successful Coaching!

As coaches, character will propel your teams to success: work ethic, self discipline, trust, honesty, courage, placing team goals ahead of individual honors, mental and physical toughness and having a good attitude are a few qualities that are needed to be successful.

Fair comments Bozo and agree with much of it, but we don't have the luxury of the Panthers production line to call in and Melbourne are a well oiled machine to overcome adversity with a stringent game plan and 80 minute performances and can throw in a gun like Faalago for Pap at fullback....but I do agree we need to improve to these type of levels and this TEST will show how eager we are to contend in 2024.....and really my only point behind the thread was "can we keep a healthy side on the field for once, to see how we compare without, injuries , suspensions ect" and my excitement that SOO was over and we have Paseka back any time it's basically full strength...I was actually happy Oka didn't play so he was available for Manly, but somehow we still find a way to have him out....
